1. Retrofit/Upgrade Your Computer to Be Bluetooth-Capable

A non-Bluetooth computer can be retrofitted to become Bluetooth-capable. This is typically done by using a USB Bluetooth adapter (also known as a Bluetooth dongle). Here’s how it works:

1. **Purchase a USB Bluetooth Adapter**: These are small devices that plug into an available USB port on your computer. They come with different Bluetooth versions, so it's best to get one with the latest version for better compatibility and performance.

2. **Plug in the Adapter**: Simply insert the adapter into a USB port on your computer. Most modern operating systems will automatically recognize the device and install the necessary drivers.

3. **Install Drivers if Needed**: If the drivers don’t automatically install, you may need to use the included CD or download the drivers from the manufacturer's website.

4. **Configure Bluetooth Settings**: Once the adapter is recognized, you can access Bluetooth settings in your operating system to pair and manage Bluetooth devices like headphones, keyboards, and mice.

This solution is simple and effective, making it easy to add Bluetooth functionality to any computer with a USB port.

2. How old is your computer.? Virtually all have been Bluetooth compatible since the late 2000's.

But to answer your question, yes the dongle will work. Just follow the instructions.

Bluetooth came out of IBM more than 25 years ago. (I actually met one of the engineers that worked on it!)

Don’t bother with the quick fixes that will ultimately fail. Get a new one.

8. My 2006 HP uses a wireless mouse with a dongle.

When I bought the mouse at Walmart for under $20 a few years ago, the dongle was stored inside of the mouse's battery compartment. The mouse uses one AA battery. Although I do not use that 2006 PC often (I prefer my 2021 laptop) the 2006 PC works fine with the wireless mouse.
