Purchasing a customized mac with software installed?

I know for a fact that in the past one could buy a macbook on line and you would be given "software" options such as windows for mac and logic etc

I recently went to the on line store and saw that you could only customize hardware such as memory and speed, also peripherals. No software!

Did I miss something , or is software customization only done now when you puchase at the brick and morter store?

My goal is to pruchase a new macbook next year with logic studio pre-installed. I do NOT want to buy logic seperately and intall myself.

I buy from MacMall.com and they usually have a bunch of options for Windows dual boot or with VMWare and some other software.

Installation on a Mac is a snap, though. Office install will take less than 5 minutes and is no hassle at all. My wife installed Logic herself with no hassles. I'm wondering why you're concerned about not doing your own install?

to master. And I don't see that as a download for that ..... I just have bad karma when downloading anything but simple stuff.

Sooooo. Could I walk into the physcial store and just tell them to pre-install logic suite, and I come back when its ready?

I've got Logic Pro 7 and it comes with Waveburner, which is IMO the best of all the "home mastering" programs I've used so far.

I hope they didn't take it out

for memory; and for the HD, 500 GB or 750 ?

If my intent is to buy logic studio and only record mix and master no more than 20 songs on this new machine

Is the 500 bucs worth the extra memory etc in your opinion?

Im running logic on a dual processor G5 tower from early '06 I think, I bought it used, it's got dual 2.3ghz processors and 4gb of ram and it runs logic 7 like a bat out of hell on on 10.5 leopard

500 gigs of hard drive should be plenty, I've got a 80gb master with a 350gig slave and that's plenty so far

And yes, you can get the physical store to install it for you, probably as you wait. Worst case is you'd have to make a Genius Bar appointment.

Most professional software is not available for download.

My experience in the brick and morter stores has always been good

I do wish they allowed customization of software on-line like in years past

When you get your computer, you just search for Logc on the Mac App Store, click Buy, and it automatically downloads and installs for you. That's it.

Edit: Here's the direct link: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/logic-pro/id459578486?mt=12

And it will put out really great mixes if you know what you are doing

But I am willing to pay more just for the mastering program inside the full logic studio and in case I ever do start playing in front of people again
