Apple Users
Related: About this forumDoes anyone have a streaming media recommendation?
I've had Apple TV for about a year. It has been ok, but not great. Sometimes it quits in the middle of a show, and it needs quite a few reboots and updates. My router and speed are very good, so the problem seems to be flow through at the Apple TV box.
I've seen ads for Roku and Chromecast and I'm sure there are others.
Since we have gotten to where we watch streaming most of the time and we cut off all the video/cable packages (HBO, etc.), I'd like to have a box that worked. We watch using Netflix, iTunes downloads, etc.
Does anyone have a particular experience or information about the different media players?

Might be interesting.

(20,886 posts)The only problems I have had have been with my not so speedy connection.
I have to reboot once in a while, but it's not enough to be annoying.

(9,696 posts)I've never had any problem with Apple TV and my conx is really slow. Could it be your router? My router is Apple as well, they work well together.

(9,103 posts)I've even wondered if the phone or something else is interfering with Apple TV. I really don't know about the frequency or anything. I suppose I could stop at the Apple store and ask.

(11,303 posts)for Christmas. We love it, no problems. I wish it had Amazon Prime available though.
I have a broken ankle and have to keep the foot elevated so it has been a godsend.
We have Netflix and Hulu+.
Our router is also an Apple Time machine so maybe that makes a difference.

(48,217 posts)I now use them for different purposes.
I use the Roku for the things it's already set up for: Hulu Plus, Netflix, Acorn TV, and MHz Worldview
I use the AppleTV for watching my iTunes purchases on the big screen.
