Related: About this forumSo I picked up a new Macbook Pro, latest edition. Best Buy beats Apple Store.
I splashed water on my aging MB Air and was due a new unit so took to shopping last week.
Usually I go with a high end unit from the Apple refurbished online store but I didn't really want to wait.
Well, the fact that the new lineup was just released saved me from having to struggle over refurb vs brand new, there are no refurbs of the new MB Pros!
So, I went with a 13" 512 drive at a lower price than the Apple Store and, with a promotion from Best Buy, even beat the educators discount from Apple.
All I need now is to decide on AppleCare vs BestBuy policies.
I think I'll be happy.
If anyone else has embarked on the new lineup, please chime in. I see that I'm using a Magsafe 2 AC interface, I love having an SD card slot and will buy a flush mount mini SD card holder there.
All in all, pretty happy so far!

(4,250 posts)Same as your 13" Retina, which is so great, but with the i7 3.0 chip and the 16RAM and the T (terabyte) SS HD Thing go but like instantly...
So sweet.
But like $3k!!! No budget, it was fun ordering it.
My 2012 is fine.
But the new ones, without the disc drive they are so thin. If you didn't know, it could be mistake for the AIR...
I am an Apple guy so AppleCare is the only choice. The idea of bringing my rig to freaking BestBuy if its going wonky is a non starter for me. EVER, they are PC guys...
Buying it there cheaper than at the Apple Store, cool but no Best Buy afterwards.
Best Buy, thats were you can buy a HDMI cable for $99.00
No way.
And if they are still in biz if your MBP needs help..
No way...

(38,958 posts)a few at Micro Center, but Best Buy usually has the best deal on 0% interest financing and there are the rewards as well. Replaced my iMac desktop a year ago as the previous unit had aged out and had a history of problems with the hard drive.
It is getting time for a new iPad, i believe and might go do that shortly as the spouse has taken over my iPad 1 while at home on disability. I am hoping to hold off awhile, but I like the convenience it offers to carry around the house and use while we travel on vacations.
Best Buy is okay with me.

Another alternative is to go to the Apple Store and look at refurbished and clearance models.
You can get a substantial savings, and the same Apple warranty from Apple.

Every new macbook that I've gotten, and iMacs, too, has been from the refurb page.
Same product, same warranty, but if it's a new release it won't be available for a while.
This was the same week as the new release and it just wasn't on the website as a refurb, I checked!
Thanks, that's good advice!
