Need Apple TV connection help

First time user here. I have one ATV for the main room and might get another for the master bedroom. Problem is both rooms are too far from the cable modem/router to stream content smoothly. I don't want to move the router or purchase a range extender or crawl under the house with more wire.

My home office is in-between both rooms, however. And since my iMac is hooked up to the modem/router via ethernet, could I get a ethernet hub and connect both Apple TVs to it along with my computer? It would be really easy to do this -- I just have drill through walls.

Would it make a difference if I got either a managed or unamanged hub? Would this impact the speed with which my computer connects online? It's unlikely both Apple TV devices and my Mac would ever be in use at the same time.

BTW, what I'm getting from Apple TV support groups is that wired connectivity provides for better performance than WiFi. Does anyone disagree with this?

Any insight would be helpful. Thanks.

1. Direct wired connectivity is always better than WiFi.

You must either have a very large place, very solid signal blocking walls, a crummy WiFi router, or some/all of the above.

We have a single Time Capsule fueling our whole two level, 2200 sf place with WiFi, and have full coverage. Two ATVs and two home offices with no problems.

But ultimately yes, a direct connection will beat WiFi.

Buy your Cat 6e cables at monoprice.com, cheapest and best place for all cables...

I also use a newer Apple Extreme (tower type opposed to the old flat one I had) It really is the best router I have ever used, signal strength wise. Much better than Linksys and the flat Extreme I had previously.

With the Extreme, I run 3 ATV's, Netflix on 3 TV's, 3 laptops and 3 iPhones.

Since I already had CAT 5e ethernet wired to my office (which is on the other side of the wall from my ATV), I just ran a wire through an existing hole and hooked it up to a D-Link ethernet hub I bought on sale this morning. Apple TV works great now. Just need to finish with the cosmetic work.
