(68,644 posts)I had to fly to Honolulu nonstop and I always bring my iPad and my MBP on board for security and to watch movies, usually on the iPad with great battery life.
Well, I discovered that because I had changed the settings the day before my flight to prevent the iPad from going to sleep that the battery was near dead.
Older Macbooks have not had the long life of several hours to watch movies and TV shows that the iPad had so I thought I was screwn.
Well, that MBP gave me five hours of use inflight and never dropped below 50% battery remaining.
30 Rock is my show of choice on flights-- I need to buy a couple more seasons as I've watched all the ones I have.

Incredibly cool engineering. And Apple eliminated all but one port, "creating a new USB 3 conection that delivers power, dtata transfer, and HDMI connection."
Makes me wish I used a Laptop instead of an iMac.

(68,644 posts)But I really need my iMac, too, for video production and spreadsheets, the small screen is tough to use.
The battery layouts are interesting, I had to crack open my MB Air due to water damage.
I resurrected it on my own but the power button is dead and not a replaceable part by itself, so I need to keep it on or asleep and fully charged or else have to crack it open again to jumpstart.
I'm always fascinated by how they arrange parts!

(28,017 posts)I took a gander at the AppleWatch. For several weeks I thought I would have no interest, but then, I felt the same about the iPad, which I carry with me everywhere. I suspect I will break down and purchase one down the road apiece, once they come up with version 2.0

(68,644 posts)And I thank you, Auggie, for this post which got me to look at the different features between this latest release and the unit I got late last year with the last update.
Anyway, I never saw light from the keys and thought maybe they weren't lit.
Then I found it, while there is a command in settings to have them auto-adjust, they might still not work.
HA! There are two brightness buttons, dimmer or brighter, above the 5 and 6 keys, just for keyboard brightness!
