1. Given so few of recent generation cohorts actually wear a watch, I think it will be an uphill climb

Still, the hard core fitness crowd might adopt it, as they have fitbits and other wearable tracking devices, so I'd bet they do sell quite a few of the entry level "sport" watches. The "status" symbol crowd might as well, but I'd bet a lot of them will find themselves satsified with the mid-level stainless steel variety for $500-$600.

Time will tell. I still wear my 20+ year old small Tag Heuer watch.. It just feels right and still looks good. If they work out enough kinks in the apple watch over time, I'd consider a sports watch as I'd love to be able to track heart rate without having to wear a chest strap monitor. The accuracy of current technology--including apple's optical sensor-- is not likely to be good, however.

As to the original question--would I spend $10K on a gold apple watch? Not on your life (even if handed the money). $350? maybe..

Forget the flying car. What everyone REALLY wants is Dick Tracy's 2-Way Wrist Radio. And now you can get one that works.

5. Besides telling time (which I assume this thing does),

does it take pictures, or make phone calls, or allow web surfing?

So, it's a watch... and?

I'm trying to understand the impetus for buying this thing.

It's a cool idea but I don't need to be that connected. My iPhone 6+ is enough.

Pretty sure I'll get another Apple TV for the bedroom though.

8. I don't wear a watch now... i'm not going to start.

The best things from the March event were the Apple TV and Macbook. I'll get another ATV for the bedroom and a new Macbook to replace my old one (2008 model).

Oh, the medical research stuff was cool, but I would need to learn more about it.

I honestly don't see the point of having an Apple watch as a companion to my iPhone. It took me a while to get on board with the iPad and the iPhone, too, though.

Edit: I was honestly a lot more excited about HBO NOW since I don't have cable/satellite TV.
