InterestingApple updated its iPod lineup on Thursday and discontinued the iPod Nano and iPod Shuffle.
They were the last two iPods that didn't run iOS, the same software that runs on the iPhone.
"Today, we are simplifying our iPod lineup with two models of iPod touch now with double the capacity starting at just $199 and we are discontinuing the iPod shuffle and iPod nano," an Apple spokesperson told Business Insider in an email.
The iPod Shuffle and iPod Nano have been removed from Apple's website and online store.

I have a 6th generation iPod Nano. Or as I call it the original Apple watch. I had a nice watch band and wore it as a watch for several years. It eventually quit working but I still have it and the band here at home.

(106,473 posts)1. I have the ipod nano 6th gen too and LOVE it. I carry my cell phone, but how nice to listen
to radio or music without having to use cell battery life when working out, hiking, cycling.
I WISH THEY WOULD BRING THAT MODEL BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(So do many others judging from the prices they go for on ebay)

(18,008 posts)3. I had three early Shuffles
obtained through Audible. I found them to be unreliable. They actually gave out in a shorter time than my Otis.
My two Creative MuVos did better. One I killed by having it in my pocket on a waterslide.
My Sansa Clips have been the most reliable of all. One I got four years ago finally gave up the ghost.

They are fabulous!
I don't want to carry a phone around in my nightgown pocket.
