The following comments apply when using a desktop computer with macOS.
Sometimes I need to copy some text from a web site. If there are hyperlinks in the text, I usually want to get rid of them. After exhaustive research, I have found a way to do this efficiently.
I start by highlighting the word in question. Then, in most applications, I hit ⌘K, which brings up a window with a box I can check to "remove" the link.
There's an alternative when I'm using the "Pages" word processor: after highlighting the word, I can choose
Format > Remove Link.

(8,546 posts)Either paste the text in a new document and change the format to plain text. Or maybe change the format of the document after creating it and then paste in the text.
I'm not by a Mac right now so I can't test this idea, but it's worth taking a minute to see if it would work.
I used to have a Mac many years ago, but haven't stayed current with the OS features - so if that doesn't work, you'll know why.

(4,121 posts)Make7's method destroys ALL formatting, not just the links.
Sometimes I want to keep the original fonts, including sizes, colors, whether italics or bold, etc.
