If you've upgraded to CatalinaOS, are you have compatibility issues with some of your apps? (Original Post) MrScorpio Oct 2019 OP
Yes - Webroot in particular rurallib Oct 2019 #1
It's looking as if it's going to take a while for these Audacity and Serato issues to get fixed. MrScorpio Oct 2019 #2

I don't use a lot of apps.

Had a Catalina update a week ago and then again this morning. Strange to have two so quickly together.

Seems like Apple does a lot of rushing out upgrades for the public to test for them.

As expected, I lost access to a fair number of 32-bit apps. And had to have some hand-to-hand combat with new versions of some others (e.g. the app to that controls my Fujitsu Scansnap). But mostly my apps are doing ok. I don't really like the new UI for the Mail app (in particular choosing how things are sorted is now awful).

But the thing that drives me to distraction? I have always enabled screen "zoom" as control+scroll (it's enabled in System Prefs / Accessability / Zoom).

And yes, it still works, except that now it has to be:

Control down, *THEN* scroll.

And it ignores me if I'm scrolling and THEN do Control-down. Minor nit I suppose, but getting my fingers retrained is taking a while.

And bye bye to Adobe software. Our old versions were 32-bit and we'll never switch to a subscription model.

my internet was instantly on. After upgrading, it cycles through, taking about a minute to get online. Could something like this be caused by the upgrade?

I don't know why it's taking longer, but my first guess is that your Wi-Fi could be cycling through different networks before it finds one it can really connect with. If I were you, I'd review the list of WiFi networks it knows about (and thus, tries to connect with). To review your list of preferred Wi-Fi networks, go to:

- System Preferences
- Network
- Wi-Fi
- Advanced

And you'll see your list of Preferred Networks.

You should

(1) delete all the ones you don't really use routinely (e.g. hotel free wifi, etc.)
(2) drag the ones you connect with often to the top of the list
(3) when it's in the right order, hit "Ok" and then "Apply" to save the updated list.

This might not help, but it certainly won't hurt and might be the source of your delays.
