Open browser
Go to settings
Select "privacy and security"
Find (scroll to) "permissions"
select box for "block pop-up windows"
A place to start, but do install suggested ad blockers.
I operate MS not Mac so I am wrong or not, but the Apple maze likely varies.

In the distant past, Omniweb was the very best browser.
