Frozen out of my MacBook Pro

Just today I cannot open my Mac with my passcode. Haven’t contacted Apple yet.. just wondered if the recent large hacking could be responsible — I read that they have frozen a million devices. My phone and IPad not affected - they open with fingerprint, facial recognition. Anyone else experiencing this?

I am not an Appley McMac person, but will your MacBook Pro allow you to input your Apple ID and then request a 'new' passcode, perhaps, by way of a two-factor authentication method (hopefully, your smart phone)?

They are usually pretty good at troubleshooting. Or schedule an appointment with the Genius Bar.

As someone else mentioned, multi factor and a reset should be very doable if you have tied your macbook to your Apple ID. Which you would almost have to have done. The Mac would be borderline useless w/o that.

It is possible that a person's administrator account can be corrupted. I have seen it 2x.

Just make a 2nd admin account. You might never need it. Or, you can be like my junior high school teacher down the road and be grateful for forethought.
