Related: About this forumCan you help? Quicktime player suddenly misbehaving
I have a wildlife camera with an SD card. Normally the videos display in Finder with the first shot of the video. Then when I click on them to play, Quicktime opens and plays them.
Midday yesterday, the videos started showing in Finder with the Quicktime icon. When I click to play, I get the swirling beachball, endlessly.
Any clues out there? I need to see if our neighborhood mangey fox ate a meatball so I can give him some ivermectin!
Thanks, folks.

(3,267 posts)1) reboot your Mac
2) copy the file to your hard drive from the SD media
3) make sure QT is up to date
4) click on the file on your hard drive to open
I suspect may be a corrupted file. If you can not copy it then the file is toast.
Good luck

(4,183 posts)I'm sending the cameras back. They both did this on the same day, 12 hours apart. Bizarre.

(8,447 posts)VLC is a reasonable popular alternative. Most of the advanced stuff is beyond me.
For video fans, its kind of indispensable.

(4,183 posts)I'll give it a try tomorrow if the same thing happens tonight--before I send the things back. I have a better brand on the way. This has been an ordeal since Day One. Trying the Wyze camera instead.
