Related: About this forumAnyone is using Brothers B&W printer HL series?
Happened once before and then went away, and is happening now.
I send a print job and it tells me that the printer is not connected. It is but I cannot even turn it off by pressing the On button. But... it prints a PDF file..
I unplug it, plug again still the same behavior.
It happened to me several weeks ago. I just turned everything off. The next day. all of a sudden all the previous jobs started printing.
Any suggestions?
The manual says to go to System Preferences Printers and Scanners and to delete it using the - button and then add it using the + button but doing this I am getting a dialogue box that I have no idea how to fill.
Thanks
OK, I works. I did plug it again and it gave me the default same printer and it is working. Now all I had to do is delete the "off line" icon and some others, older printers..
Curioser and curioser
Still cannot turn it off, though.

(13,848 posts)Will even wake from deep sleep, to shut down, though I miss the barely audible click when I hold the power button down a long time when it's on.
like the old nurse joke --- waking up a patient to take their sleeping pills
I am ethernet connected because I was using a wireless hotspot for the longest time and that was too awkward. Naturally, pulling the power or switching off an outlet strip is foolproof.
Do check your print queue if jobs are reappearing. Maybe they got held up, or you submitted them multiply when the printer was daydreaming.
Just some wild guesses.

Are you near any Apple Reseller store ?
question everything
(48,812 posts)I am a dinosaur.
I am near an Apple store, not a reseller. I got the printer at Best Buy. The previous one was working fine but could not talk to the newer iMac (High Sierra) that no longer has the Intel chip..
