Apple Users
Related: About this forumThank you Apple Support!
My iPad as been sluggish recently, took it time to navigate. On this site, mostly.
And then the letter S on my extended keyboard, after needing coaxing for several weeks finally quit.
So we called Apple Support. First I gave her permission to view the screen and there I kept hitting the Agree - for accepting the terms - and nothing happened. So we used the camera on my small iPhone to view the screen. The iPad is about five years old and I was wondering whether it could benefit for some major overall. So went to the beginning, deleted everything. I use it mainly for visiting web sites so I went ahead.
And then we needed to reconnect it to the extended keyboard which was really complicated. And she was there, viewing the keyboard that the blue light was flashing, the the WiFi was connected. At some point it did not recognize my Apple password so I had to reset it. And she was there, patiently waiting. The pairing continued to fail and when I was given a number I had to repeat this several times.
She even waited for me to download the Libby application to borrow and read ebooks from the library.
Finally, just to humor me, I asked her to see if she could get into the iPad again. Same thing, could not hit the Agree. And then she said to change the orientation from landscape to portrait and... it worked.
We ended up talking for an hour and a half and she was worth every penny that we have spent on Apple products - starting with the Mac SE in 1987.

(120,815 posts)Yes, their products tend to be more expensive than some competitors, and I know everybody loves to hate Apple, but I got my first Apple computer - I think it also was an Apple SE - in the '80s and never looked back. I recall once sharing an office with several PC users whose computers seemed to crash regularly and who seemed to spend quite a lot of time talking to tech support people - at one point one of the PC users on one such phone call told the tech support person, "There's a Mac person in this office and she's laughing at me." Which I was. II've had to call tech support or get a device repaired maybe 6 or 7 times in 30+ years. Hate all you want; they'll have to pry my Apple products from my cold dead hands...

(10,507 posts)A few years ago, I had a problem with a previous iPhone that kept rebooting. Apple authorized replacing the phone for free. And they did, even though it was out of warranty.
