Ubuntu on an Android phone
Has anyone ever installed Ubuntu on an Android phone? I have an older Kyocera Event that is running Android 4.2 (I believe) right now, and I'm kind of getting an itch to replace it with Ubuntu.

(56,582 posts)You can put Ubuntu directly on many ARM devices, or install the Ubuntu shell on top of Android. The second is really easy; the first can be very difficult.

(15,882 posts)use it in wireless mode, little mp3 player. And I read where I could load the latest Android to it, but I think I will try Ubuntu.
At least that's the plan.
Now I have to go figure out how to load it

(488 posts)I can't seem to get my way around the locked bootloader on this phone (mine is set up with Virgin Mobile service). If I can ever figure out how to unlock the bootloader, putting Ubuntu on looks fairly straightforward...
