I have a Google smart tv. It runs Silk as a browser. It sucks.
very slow, won't run many websites I want to watch for streaming, ie MSNBC.
Is there any other web browser that Silk and Google will download and tolerate or failing that is there an MSNBC streaming service that Silk will tolerate?

(46,561 posts)I don't even know if you're telling me you have a smart phone, or a television. But this runs on the slowest internet connection: https://livenewschat.eu/politics/

Like DU videos....
The trick is to make sure it has a SSD drive and just install basic free virusscanner and a couple of your fav browsers and their add-ons.
It wakes from sleep super fast and I can watch anything, like normal.

(14,559 posts)I'm using a tablet to cast to a Chromecast plugged into HDMI 1 on the TV with no problem but I bought this 'smart TV' (which turns out to be kinda' stupid) so I could use one remote to watch MSNBC. I also have a stick PC plugged into HDMI port 2 but I hate the tiny keyboard.
Just trying to simplify the whole process. One device instead of three. It's nice to carry one remote to bed and be done with it.
Seems like it's not possible at this point.

(7,429 posts)unless you have a cable connection, and then you still need an upgraded package.
It seems like MSNBC would make themselves more accessible considering all the advertising they run. Why don't they want more viewers to see their ads so they can charge more for the ads?
I just use:
https://www.newslive.com/featured/msnbc.html
on a laptop and run to hdmi2 on my tv if I want to watch on a big screen.
This works but you still get some disconnects and have to fire up another tab to resume.
Also once you go to that link you still have to scroll past one or two ads before you can click on msnbc.

Navigating it is a little funky. The screen sizing is a little funky.
But it is functional.
Im watching MSNBC at the link in my post above.
