shortly after I learned about the leaked memo which could end Roe v Wade. I was desperate. I called her office asking what they intended to do. I got a cold, officious answer from the woman who answered the phone. She said, "we'll have to wait and see what leadership says." She was cold and flat. I didn't know what I was expecting the person at the other end of the phone to say. Maybe, I hope, they'd say something like, I don't have an immediate answer, but we will fight like hell to prevent this from happening. Or, we'll fight like hell to protect women's reproductive rights.
I was so upset by the call that two weeks later I called back Maloney's office to tell them how disgusted I was by that staffers response. I told the person I spoke with, (she identified herself of Ms. Maloney Chief of Staff) that I vote in every election, and if it means biting off my nose to spite my face, I would never vote for Maloney. The Chief of Staff said that Ms. Maloney and her staff are passionate about women's reproductive rights and saving Roe v Wade. To which I responded, why would she hire someone who seemed so indifferent to the issue.
