the parents were divorced. mom was not a match. relatives were not a match. mom asked dad to just b tested. tested. he said no. she took him to court AND LOST.
so, yeah, courts NEVER tell men what to do w their bodies.

(22,842 posts)For one - as Republicans know so well - it's often men who want the abortion (medical need aside). But there's more to this than denying women safe and legal abortions:
Texas, for instance, basically outlawed porn - which (need I say more) mostly affects men.
Because Republicans are not just obsessed with controlling women: their goal is nothing short of limiting sexuality, as much as possible, to the exclusive enjoyment of the connected (and of those with their blessing).
Medieval cardinals understood that - and the power that gives you over others.

I still remember polio and how frightening it was and how restrictive the fear was. The vaccine and peoples willingness to get vaccinated changed that. It was a commitment to the larger community.

(4,225 posts)RWNJ's don't have any commitment to the larger community, nor do they desire to have one, IMO. In fact, they see that as a negative, ala Ayn Rand. A commitment to the larger community demands they act responsibly, take responsibility in all circumstances seriously, and practice empathy. All things at least the larger Magat community cannot achieve, and deem to be a societal evil, rather than a societal good.
I swear all these people are stuck in their early teens, at the very least. They've never made that growth from self-involved, egoistic me-me-me selfishness, to adulthood and all the emotional maturity that should entail. They find validation within the writings and thoughts of Ayn Rand and those who emulate her, like Elon Musk. Until they can move past that mental phase they're stuck in, they'll never be productive, useful members of society. JMO.

(28,456 posts)It was a condition for some public spaces and yes, for some jobs. But people could usually find an acceptable exemption if they really had deeply held beliefs (not this pop science going around), and they could choose not to go to the places that required vaccines or masks.

(28,840 posts)Gay men still have the right to bodily autonomy. Theyll never get pregnant and have their body hijacked for 9 months, they wont be stopped from leaving their state for healthcare or any other reason. Saying this in the abortion climate is basically the same as saying All Lives Matter in response to people talking about Black Lives Matter. Gay men are men who are still privileged over women.
