(53,661 posts)Misery is easy to create. It's the tool of the maliciously lazy.
Happiness takes work, it is the reward for a life being well lived.
Make the choice to not let others steal your hard earned joy.
Take the negative energy they try to fill you with and create something beautiful.

This is the fruit of love, to look at the eyes of this girl and others in a refugee camp that Obama visited. These people are the victims of war and exploitation of the most brutal kind ever known, yet media gives them scant attention, as the 1% are not affected by it
The amount of murderous violence in our land alone that this man has had to see and feel and comfort, is staggering. Confronting and healing evil in a world of hatred and violence, is part of Obama's complex task in a world in which many insist he fail. He is planting seeds of consciousness in all he does that is lauded or condemned. This is the reality of the world we live in.
It is not a job for the faint of heart, and the maliciously lazy who see their victory in tearing down the work and the workers are not going to do it. Look into those angel eyes meeting his, and weep for those whose lives deserve love:

(87,578 posts)the little girls expression, is incredibly moving. The entire tableau, freeze framed, speaks volumes. The hands reaching out, the mothers face peering down, the expressions are felt in the soul.
Striking, freshwest, truly striking.

(53,661 posts)The celebrity heroes so many love and fight over are so far above these people as to be on another planet. So many focus on the lives of a handful of wealthy men and hate others because they won't go along with their worshipping of them.
That is all we see now. No respect for real people, mostly. Love follows where the heart leads and reveals the soul.
The photos fo the visits Africa, like the ones on the campaign trail and with the daily meetings Obama has with real people, tell the tale the media work hard to discourage people to care about.
They have distracted and made people callous about some real suffering. Like Stuebenville. Like Boston. Like this one.

(22,541 posts)Obama is not an Obamabot. He likes people to think for themselves and he sees all sides of an argument. I imagine he argues with himself every now and then.
I'm that way myself.

(53,661 posts)He is the twelfth president in my life. So I have quite a bit to compare him with. And Barack Obama is by far the best, despite others I have loved. We have been blessed. Thanks for your 'all of the above' choice. Glad you enjoy the thread.

THE WRECKED REAR OF THE BLUE DEUCE STILL DISPLAYED A STRONG MESSAGE AFTER THE RACE.
In deference to the Boston Marathon tragedy this past week, the Blue Deuce displayed Boston Strong on its rear end. After the race, Brad climbed out of his car to survey the damage and noted that amazingly, the Boston Strong message was the only piece remaining on the tail end of the Blue Deuce. After finally seeing the damage for himself, Brad took time to praise his team for their toughness in helping to secure the strong finish.
"We have 'Boston Strong' on the back of the car today and that's good inspiration for this weekend, Brad said in his post-race interview with Fox. Just a gritty effort by the 2 team today. Usually you're not happy unless you win, but with all the trouble we had today to come around here in sixth, [it] kind of feels like a win."

Read Marion's Ghost's thread, they are finally getting coverage on MSNBC! The light is going to shine despite all who want it to go out. We are all one.
120 Arrested in Latest Round of Moral Monday Protests
Raleigh, N.C. - After more than 550 arrests, the so-called "Moral Monday" protests at the state legislature show no signs of stopping. State Capitol Police said 120 people were arrested Monday in the eighth round of demonstrations, which attracted an estimated crowd of about 2,000 the largest showing to date.
Protesters are coming out in growing numbers to decry the rightward tilt of the state since Republicans gained control of the state legislature and the governor's mansion the first time they've held both branches of government at the same time since 1870.
At rallies before entering the General Assembly to face arrest, they rail against decisions to forego Medicaid expansion under the federal health care overhaul, cut unemployment benefits, pursue tax cuts that mostly benefit the wealthy and other policies.
Protester Philip Diehl said his unemployment benefits will soon be wiped away as he continues his recovery from cancer. "Luckily for me, I'm in remission," he said. "Making these changes with unemployment is not right ... I'm a real person in North Carolina, and I matter." Republicans have dismissed the protests and vowed to hold firmly to their agenda.

670 arrests in all now. The rallies are attracting national media attention--both MSNBC and Fox News had reporters at Monday's event.

(53,661 posts)Also snagged the LBJ video and transcript for my rant on the thread on how the USSC has just struck down the Voting Rights Act. I am sick to heart and enraged at the same time:

The momentum of Fusion politics is also gaining some attention, that the M$M finally has granted. My opinion of them remains at an all time low, but then, most people are getting their news from cable, which does not have to follow any FCC rules about doing what they do in the public interest.
Many people forget as they watch that the same media that edits and distorts Obama's words and idea, created and catapulted the IndieTeaPublicans to power and ignored them stealing our rights. But then, they are only diverting us to what their owners want us to focus on, demonizing our president and lauding those they want us to see:

That OP should be in the Greatest list, but sadly too many of the left (?) want to follow the adventures of a half-dozen wealthy men the media created as political celebrities. The recs are all going to defending them, not real people. That's who they focus on, not real activism. Koch media wins again. Sigh.

(53,661 posts)Thoughts? Feelings? Spirit? And then we are drawn to certain things all at the same thing, it appears. I'd seen the link in your signature before, but hadn't clicked it. I wasn't sure it was about you or politics, but something told me to go there today and I am glad I did.
The piece you wrote called earlier this year, 'I Wish To Inform You That I Am Being Held Hostage,' may be more personal than you would want to post, but I wish you would put it in one of the main forums.
DU seems to be in 'Look, Shiny!' mode consistently from following the media scandal du jour, and not tending to the things that are hurting millions of people. There are some serious things going on in all 50 states, and they are being ignored. At a website that is about activism.
We need to steer the focus back, not allow the Koch brothers media with their literal version of 'corporations are people' and 'money equals speech' in media prevail over reality.
We are literally talking to their dollars in the media, and they have a millions of more words than we ever will have, at that rate.
Obama did not create this increasing, and it will increase geometrically, dissolution of the country that the Koch brothers want to see. They want it so they can buy it up wholesale and continue to be wealthy beyond the dreams of anyone on the planet with their immoral 'Masters of the Universe' game.
Those in Congress who are responsible, are deliberately ignoring, if not rejoicing, at the pain they knew the Sequester would cause. They are arrogantly passing bills on women's bodies, trying to strip help from those who are in need, as your article plainly states.
They are in the game Rand Paul is playing, using magical thinking processes. They tell their followers if America gets all the way back to the days of the Old Testament, God will forgive all the sins they commit daily against those they can oppress, starve and deny their humanity.
They are excellent orators, spewing a lot of words you describe, in your article called, 'Im Not Giving Up My Seat Sir.' Isn't it something that this comes up today?
Please post both in GD or here in the BOG, where we still believe in human rights.
Thanks for the reply and hope that things are goign well with you. (I used to juice and have to get back to it. again.) See you later.
