The Tea Party being another Koch brothers creation to stop the sunset of the Bush tax cuts and the same as the Birchers, Libertarians, Inforwars crowd, et al.

Since he's been elected there have been online subliminals to destroy his character in the public mind so much that his supporters have been drowned out by the unproven stories.

It's been a uphill climb from the get-go, and it's clear the status quo did not want him in office. But logic and facts mean nothing when you've got that inside you brain.

The GOP worked very hard and succeeded in driving a wedge between low income, working poor and the middle class. The more he talk about helping poor people the less much of the middle class supports him.

Now that makes me really sad, and baffled.

Someone once told me -- in your head it's a dream, but on paper it's a plan. As a nation, we’ve talked about addressing the issue of homelessness, and now we have a plan. Over the last year, the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness (USICH), consisting of 19 federal agencies and chaired by Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Shaun Donovan, drafted the nation’s first comprehensive strategic plan to prevent and end homelessness.

The plan sets ambitious but measurable goals: (1) end chronic homelessness in five years; (2) prevent and end homelessness among veterans in five years; (3) prevent and end homelessness for families, youth, and children within a decade; and (4) put us on a path to ending all types of homelessness.

The plan builds on existing interagency partnerships and evidence-based models that are working at the local level. It will focus the resources and efforts of federal agencies to offer a variety of comprehensive solutions. For example, the partnership between HUD, HHS, and Education will provide homeless families with not only a home, but the wrap-around services they need to remain off the streets.

This is doable but it requires all of us to work together - Congress, federal agencies, state and local officials, faith-based and community organizations, and business and philanthropic leaders across our country.

This is one of my personal gratitude issues.. It's thanks to the Democratic Plan that so many will not have to be without a home if they don't want to be. I know some people actually prefer living out outside but that's the exception.

Everyone should be able to have a roof or a yurt over their head to protect them from the elements and have a sanctuary to go home to.

I really like them. Part of my personal long range disaster plan - which I hope never comes to pass - would be to rebuild with either a yurt or dome house either one. If anything bad enough happened to trigger much insurance, you'd be starting from scratch anyway. This 100-yr-old house would cost over a quarter mil to rebuild, and you can bet I don't have that kind of insurance! I'm in the slow process of archiving irreplaceable family photos and storing them in a variety of places including the Cloud. Anything else except life itself can be replaced.

At my age I need less than before too. For instance, clothing. A few outfits appropriate for church and funerals at any season, and the rest is purely circumstantial. When I worked in health care I developed a tremendous fondness for non-medical style scrub tops, and when I counted those recently it turned out I'd accumulated 44. In summer I stick almost exclusively to sleeveless smocks (just counted 14 of those) and shorts, in winter fleece tops and bottoms mostly. If it all went away, I could do fine with a lot less.

What my greedy little heart really wants now is a $5K ELF. Now that would be a very practical expenditure!

I didn't remember what they did about bathroom facilities so I found this.. sounds like a lot of work to me. Bless their hard working nature loving hearts.

Ah, the simple life.. mine is more simple now than ever before and I love it! For one thing.. no winter clothes or even fall. Makes having a small closet manageable.

I have some experience with off-grid living and compost toilets. This remote county has very few zoning laws, and I rather imagine the authorities would look the other way in case a major disaster struck, so long as a person was discreet and reasonable. The town lots average 1/4 acre, so it's not as if we're stacked to the rafters. My first choice would still be a dome, but I like yurts well enough. They really make wonderful summer cabins or lakeside cabanas, etc.

lie about it by claiming there's no difference between Dems and Repubs. All people have to do is open their eyes to see what the Dems are doing is for our country(or I suppose helping the Poor and Homeless doesn't count?). They never had to do without so what the hell.. "that's their problem."

Since I've always followed the financial news whether I had $ or not, I knew this damned housing bubble would burst sooner than later, and I'd been preparing for the fallout a long, long time. That's why I'm comparatively comfortable from a frugal standpoint, but even that would never have been possible w/o President Obama, and don't think I don't know it. He helped save my bacon (and everyone else's) and that's the main reason I owe him such a huge debt of gratitude, too much ever to repay. It's also why I consider it a joyful duty to defend him.

Most people in rural areas are poor, and it's not because they're the lazy parasites their beloved overlords have called them. I remember Harry Truman saying something about how long would it take for a man being whacked over the head with a 2x4 until he figured out exactly who was on the other end of it? When and if that happens, Katy bar the door.

The people around here are nowhere near figuring it out yet. But I wonder if a few, even the worst off, have at least a slight inkling when they see that even with my very modest means I've managed to live pretty well by comparison, and that w/o debt. It seems to mystify as well as anger some, and w/o just cause they've poured their bile out over my head on many an occasion. I can only hope one day they'll realize the wisdom of Dr. Howard Dean's assertion that only a fool lets the Republicans handle the nation's $. Truer words never spoken.
