(87,578 posts)He lifted the death sentence of many Americans. When the pre-existing condition was lifted, the insurance companies could no longer deny coverage. Who among us does not have some sort of condition that would exempt us from health care. Dear lord, I read someplace, that battered women have a pre-existing condition!
He gave us hope. He gave us change.
BOG Cha!

(1,135 posts)the 2014 elections. We have to get a majority in congress to make some real change. Like election laws, women's rights, jobs, welfare/food stamps, rehab programs and mj laws, to name but a few.

(305,447 posts)I think these are going to be midterm elections like we've never seen before. Definitely think Team Obama learned from the last midterm.. the hard way!

(1,135 posts)I think you're right, Cha!
The blatant lies from the neo-cons are going to bite them in the arse, big-time.
NOT ALL people are stupid, and when it come to the huge number of baby-boomers, like myself, who need more medical care and beginning health issues, they will know they have been lied to.
Egg on their face, doesn't quite describe what they will look like as ACA coverage takes over people's previous thieving med insurance company policies.
Rethug state govs - eat dirt!
Humana - eat dirt!
BC/BS - eat dirt!
Aetna - eat dirt!
Metropolitan Group - eat dirt!
Feel free to add your current or previous med insurance company to the list above!

Backatcha, Isoldeblue!
I never had health insurance.. until I got medicare and it came at just the right time. I was fortunate that I never needed it and that I didn't have to deal with Insurance companies!

(9,766 posts)Toward the end of the film, Toto pulls the curtain back to reveal a charlatan feverishly carrying out a concocted and loudly spoken smoke and mirrors routine, which until until that point had effectively directed an atmosphere of fear and submission toward the cast of characters. Once exposed, the mighty Wizard was chastised by Dorothy as being a "very bad man". I believe that some in Congress and elsewhere who have used lies, deceit, fear, intimidation, and enforced ignorance at every step as a mean to shout down health care reform will in fact have their own "very bad" moments.
At this time, the biggest fear in conservative circles is the possibility that people will soon come to realize the benefits of Obamacare and that they (conservatives) will lose ground on this issue as they have on a number of social issues. So what desperate measures can be taken? Easy! Just go out and "Kill it before it spreads", or more realistically, "Kill it before they actually find out they like it".

AGREE. I was CANCELLED. Then I paid 375/mo. now i pay $129 a month with BETTER
COVERAGE and can't be refused. WE now have COMPETITION in California (finally). AND the WEALTHCARE scaremongers want me to fear the black president. HA! I fear losing OBAMACARE and going back.

Although I supported the ACA, it was only because I thought it was better than no change at all; I was actually rather pessimistic about anything getting significantly better. I'm thrilled to be proven wrong about this (:
