PBO: "No world order that elevates one nation or group of people over another will succeed."

This is Posted in the Barack Obama GROUP

“In an era when our destiny is shared, power is no longer a zero-sum game. No one nation can or should try to dominate another nation. No world order that elevates one nation or group of people over another will succeed. No balance of power among nations will hold. The traditional divisions between nations of the South and the North make no sense in an interconnected world; nor do alignments of nations rooted in the cleavages of a long-gone Cold War.”

The time has come to realize that the old habits, the old arguments, are irrelevant to the challenges faced by our people. They lead nations to act in opposition to the very goals that they claim to pursue -- and to vote, often in this body, against the interests of their own people. They build up walls between us and the future that our people seek, and the time has come for those walls to come down. Together, we must build new coalitions that bridge old divides -- coalitions of different faiths and creeds; of north and south, east, west, black, white, and brown.

– President Obama, United Nations General Assembly, September 23, 2009

This is how President Obama feels about Nations co-existing in the world.. I like this view. I also love that he's keen on America .. as am I. If I liked another country better I'd make darn sure I lived there.

Not that I expected that changing presidents could change the imperial nature of our state.

and those who come in here to disrupt need to realize that they have the whole board to dissent with their rude speculations and incessant bashing of President Obama. Just not here.

It's a shame that some people just don't get it.

First welcome to DU, as the OP said, this is a group for supporters of President Obama. We don't usually like people who bring their negative views of the President in our group. You won't last long here. So if you want to support him and show your love towards the President, pull up a chair, otherwise, if you want to diss him, take it to General Discussion.

We ask that posters respect that. And, I'm sorry you couldn't do that.

President Obama Addresses the UN General Assembly

By The White House

Uploaded on Sep 24, 2009

In his first address to the United Nations General Assembly, President Obama covers a range of topics—all under the umbrella of his desire for leaders to recognize the "common future" of a world in which "the interests of peoples and nations are shared."

He hasn't forgotten a word of what he said; those who didn't comprehend then, won't understand now.
