Winter~
These are my pictures. I have always been in awe of the ferocious beauty of the storm and it's spectacular aftermath. This is my first attempt to make a video. I wanted to do this. I set my mind to it. It took me months to figure it out. I stopped and started so many times.
It's short and sweet, but damn I did this. I was frustrated when my attempts failed. Yet like anything you have to keep trying to make it right. If you stop, you fail. I have no intention of failing.
The First Family enjoys the snow~
A huge thank you to NYC_SKP. Tonight, when I was trying to post this I kept getting failed messages. He told me how to do it. I thank you SKP, you are priceless!

(21,115 posts)You made me enjoy looking at snow....and I hate snow! I love HOT weather...but spent a long 5 years living in meager housing in a rural area outside of Chicago! I've seen my share!
BUT...it made me think of my beloved grandmother...who LOVED snow...she had decorations around her house..."Let it Snow" ...snow globes....we often had faux arguments over what was better weather....Even though she moved to the deep south....she always wished for it to snow...."just a little...it just looks so pretty". Is what she said every year about this time....She liked White Christmases and seeing houses lit up in the snow...
So thank you...I enjoyed your video very much...felt like I got to spend a moment with someone I miss very much!
You should do more video....you really do have an "eye" and seeing your work in that manner points it out nicely.

I've lived in Mass. my whole life. It's so beautiful to watch and I love taking pictures of it. However I hate shoveling and driving in it.
Thanks, so glad you enjoyed it and gave you some sweet memories.

(26,290 posts)I always associate a heavy snow with quiet. I would wake up in the early am and the absence of sound would let me know we had a good snow. No traffic noises, kids not up and out yet, doggies still warm inside. Your video reminded me of that.
And thanks for Bo in the snow as well!

(87,544 posts)The "absence of sound" describes it perfectly.

(1,805 posts)It fits this beautiful video perfectly. Good job she she! Made my day after reading some of the inane (imo) posts on the rest of the board. Damn, some people can be so spiteful. Thanks again, hope sheshe doesn't mind that I share it with some friends who aren't on here.

(82,383 posts)I love shadows on snow. The shots from the windows looking out from inside were great - reminds me of how you can be snug inside.

(87,544 posts)Thank you!
The window shots were taken in the winter of 2010. That's the winter we were getting hit with back to back storms! Some weeks we got 3 major snowfalls. That was one amazing winter!

(5,376 posts)What a great job you did with your video--the scenes are amazing and the background music is one of my favorite Debussy tunes. The pics of the President and family + Bo playing in the snow are icing on the cake--so to speak!
Thank you for sharing such lovely images, and please--keep up the good work. Look forward to your future videos!
Blessings.

(87,544 posts)It was fun to make, yet a tab frustrating to say the least. However, I learned something new!

(6,151 posts)Nothing I love better than snow or really any kind of storm. While I realize now how stupid it was, my ex and I would sit on the patio where we were lucky to live on the White Sands Missile Range and watch huge electrical storms. We were housed on the outer perimeter and had an unobstructed view. Like many thrilling things, it was stupidly dangerous, but in your 20's what do you know?

(87,544 posts)The night pictures were taken at my sisters house. I went there to ride out the storm. I figured at least they had a fire place and a generator in case we lost power.
We went out every half hour, taking turns to shovel a path from her house to my mom's apartment over the garage. My brother in law was out plowing for over 24 straight hours. I didn't get home until late afternoon the next day, when they finally lifted the driving ban. Even then a 13 minute drive took me forty minutes, that's how bad the roads were.
Ah yes, Irish, to our 20's!

We have been having some beautiful days for the most part, yet the temps drop pretty fast in the afternoon. It went into the thirties last night, brrrr....
But wait, Tuesday as the sun was setting we had the most beautiful rainbow. It was magnificent!

Normally I don't like chamber music, but your selection for the music in this video was perfect.
You did an outstanding job.
sheshe2
(87,544 posts)Funny about the music...this was 1 of 2 "sample music" on Microsoft Music. I tried to download music, yet have not figured that part out yet and really do not understand the copyright laws.
So, anyway, thank you so very much~
