You have two of them...so you are twice blessed and spoiled!

(4,309 posts)I'm a strong supporter of President Obama, as well! Despite what the corporate media would have you believe, there are a lot of us out here that LOVE and SUPPORT this President for what he is doing. I believe in all those crazy ideas like peace, economic fairness, the rich paying their fair share, marriage equality, racial equality, women making their own reproductive choices, etc., etc, etc. President Obama has been EXCELLENT on these issues, IMO.
Thanks for your support of the President! Lets keep moving forward with the hope and change we all support and voted for!
PEACE!

(4,309 posts)This is an informed, really nice and fun group here! When I want sanity and reason, I come here to BOG.
It is great to have a forum of people who actually appreciate the job President Obama is doing!
FrenchieCat
(68,868 posts)I have like 67,000+ posts, and many of those was in reference to our President....over time!
But well, I got super busy with my businesses, (which was the excuse I perhaps needed)
as I had gotten turned off of DU......where I started feeling that my presence here was maybe counterproductive, as too many folks that I was debating with started making things too personal for my taste!

BTW, beatiful photo of your grandchild.
Peace and love always and above all,

(6,151 posts)Could anyone else in the world be aware that he's smarter than most people and yet be so good about it? That's one of my favorite things about President Obama - supremely confident but not smug, regardless of what the Repukes say. I'm just glad he's on our side!
BeyondGeography
(40,015 posts)One doesn't have to worry about him, and not because he's dull. I have always been totally down with No Drama. This job/world/life doesn't need any extra crazy. As Frenchie says below, he will be missed when it's time for him to go. I don't expect to see his kind again in my lifetime.

(6,151 posts)I'll have to get out a magnifying glass and examine that picture to see if there might be a tiny bit of canary feather in at least one corner of his mouth. As intelligent observers have remarked lately, the GOP has succeeded in putting President Obama exactly where he wants to be.

(16,048 posts)Back in the 1960s I got to live in Mountain View for a brief while, before returning to the L.A. area. Then in the late '70s I was in Eureka, returning there often to visit parents until they relocated north to Washington. With all that, there really is no vibe like a SF vibe.

Alternatively, you could stick around and get to know us.

Hekate
(94,698 posts)I've withdrawn from political activities, and I really should take a long vacation from DU.... My IRL friends keep me from feeling too low; haven't seen my 2 grandsons in too long, but a lot of that is the sheer fatigue I've felt for the past several months.
I have many blessings, but I think sometimes the tiredness-for-no-reason keeps me from remembering to count them. One of them though is how all the best people show up here in the BOG.
And yes, DU is having one of its periodic relapses into lunacy. I keep wanting to write, Who ARE these people? but that would probably be a bad thing.
Thanks for the news and all the pix.

(17,656 posts)And I would like to add, as to your valued contribution to the BOG . . . there wouldn't be one worth reading anymore without you, and sheshe2, Freshwest, IrishAyes, babylonsistah, and all of the other regulars that post here weekly, if not daily.
Sometimes, in the middle of the night during the week, I come here to reenergize my political batteries.
In order to "keep my eyes on the prize".
It isn't easy when so many others are being negative, critical, or dishonest about the situations we find ourselves engaged in these days.
But then, it has never been easy.
It seems that there has been a tiny "October Surprise" almost every single month this year, when the media, or the Republicans have went after President Obama and the Democrats currently in Congress.
As far as I am concerned, most of the blame rests squarely on the shoulders of the American people who elected the "do nothing bums" from the Tea Party to seats in Congress.
We have to undo that damage this fall in the mid-term elections that are quickly coming right around the corner.
For the first time in Idaho in almost 20 years, the Democrats have a fair playing field, and an excellent chance to unseat the Republican Governor as the GOP state political machine has ground to a sudden stop over political infighting within their own state party, arguing about the difference between being an extreme conservative and being a crazy "over the top" extreme conservative.
The current Governor likes to pander to the crazy "over the top" extreme conservative sect that live in the state -- people who passed laws forcing the college campuses to allow for concealed carry of weapons over the objections of the colleges, law enforcement personnel, experts, and other people who were NOT allowed to testify at the fake hearing the whackadoos held in the state legislature this spring.
Hopefully, people in this state will come to their senses in time to oust the Governor, who seems to like all of the chaos he has caused these last 4 years, and who actively supported political nonsense like allowing an unemployed, crazy racist biker to be included in their GOP debates for Governor.
I guess the Governor thought he looked more rational standing next to that whackjob, but that won't work when it comes time to defend his record in office when he is standing next to the Democratic candidate this fall in their debate.
The end of the political nonsense has to start somewhere, and I think Idaho is ripe to be the state where it gets started.
We need to set the trend towards moving back to having a rational government, not one ruled by the NRA lobby, or one that ruins the school system and trashes the budgets of the meager welfare programs that are under the state's control, and then turns around and rewards corporations by reducing their income tax burdens while not creating jobs.
I mean, if giving all of that tax money back to those corporations would have resulted in the creation of jobs, every single man, woman, and child in the state would have 2 high-paying full-time jobs by now!
Instead of the reality, which is all of those shareholders simply pocketing their windfall from rising profits these last few years.
As unemployment in the state continues to fall, the current Governor is very vocal to take the credit . . . yet the large majority of those new jobs are just minimum wage jobs that only require low skill sets.
