Sworn in again, Obama lingers for last look
By Matt Smith and Tom Cohen, CNN

updated 9:53 AM EST, Tue January 22, 2013

Washington (CNN) -- It was a seemingly wistful moment at the halfway mark of his presidency, before the celebratory parade and the evening's galas.

Shortly after exhorting the United States to continue its "never-ending journey" to live up to the ideals of its founders, on his way off the platform at the West Front of the Capitol, President Barack Obama stopped to drink in the scene before him.

snip

"I did everything possible today to keep from crying," said U.S. Rep. John Lewis, D-Georgia, a onetime lieutenant of King. He called the sight of Obama using King's Bible "very moving, unreal -- almost unbelievable."

Monday is also the federal holiday commemorating the birthday of King, who was assassinated in 1968.

The loudest cheer of Obama's address came when he said the nation's journey remained incomplete "until our wives, our mothers, and daughters can earn a living equal to their efforts," and "until our gay brothers and sisters are treated like anyone else under the law."

More at the link with CNN videos I have no clue how to post.

It is the image of Obama in my post, yet the one I want is from behind him, his view. I believe it was a black and white image and the drapes framed it.

Lol...I'm not crazy I saw it but no matter how many ways I google it I can not find the one I want.

Thanks for your help!

What a moment. I remember it. And I remember this, too. How he wanted to just take one more look. It'd be his last term in any office (at least as far as we know, at this point).

Thanks for posting these, sheshe2! You're a True Blue DU gem!

If someone here can't help I will write the WH. I want to see that image again.

Thank you calimary!

Our constitutional lawyer does not understand the power of the media? How sad.

It's most difficult to defend those who are bent on apology.

If you are talking about the image I seek. It's on the net and it was an awesome shot of him looking out at the crowd. Yet you speak of...

it's on the internet. "Our Constitutional Lawyer" understands the power of the media.. how sad for you that you do not know that.

"It's most difficult to defend those who are bent on apology." That statement makes no sense whatsoever.

You've wandered into the Barack Obama Group talking trash about the President.. so please delete your post like you were asked to or you will be blocked from the group.

The clip in my OP, I noticed Sasha and Malia turn and Pete Souza appears with the camera. They pulled him forward and he take the awesome shot I am talking about. I may have seen it during the inauguration. Watch the clip and you will see Souza appear. The photo has not been released by the WH~

Watch As Sasha & Malia Obama Ensure Photographer Captures Historic Inauguration Image

Scroll down to watch the video of them ensuring that official White House photographer Pete Souza captures a historic moment as the president takes one last look back at the admirers gathered at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., to watch him be sworn in to his second term.

Sasha and Malia Obama have grown up before the nation's eyes, and it appears they're paying attention to their father's legacy, as they can be seen in this great clip provided by C-Span grabbing Souza as Obama takes that final look back over the crowd.

As the short clip begins, Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, Sasha, Malia and Michelle Obama can be seen walking away from the inaugural stage at the conclusion of the ceremony. But the president turns around one final time to soak in the final moments of his second and final inauguration.

"I'm going to take a look one more time," Obama says in the clip, "I'm not going to see this again."

He stands for a moment casting a serious gaze, then smiling over the crowd, while Sasha and Malia, wearing colorful coats, watch for a second before grabbing Souza and creating an opening for him to catch one last picture of Obama at his 2013 inauguration. The photo has yet to be released, but it may be one for the ages, as it represents the end of the beginning of Obama's second term in the White House.

The sick ones that kick him constantly probably won't ever, but even some who really respect and admire him probably don't know the depth of gratitude we should really have for him.
