What Obama critics on DU don't get.

He was able to get elected - twice!

We could all have our perfect progressive/liberal candidates that we love, but what good is it if they can't win an election?

And he has been excellent on the issues - protecting contraception and a woman's right to choose, the environment, immigration reform, health care, gay rights, equality......etc.

He promised change and he kept his promise in my opinion. Glad I voted for him twice. And I think he is only getting warmed up for these last two years! I can tell because the right wingers have been frothing at the mouth lately!

And, I think it was a miracle Obama got elected Prez.. with all the US media drumming manufactured "news" into the airwaves 24/7.. designed to fit their corporate agenda.

satisfied everyone's expectations on getting all of their issues passed but we should not expect to get everything "we want". It is like handing a kid a toy catalog and telling them to pick out everything they want and they do and accidently one item was not presented and the kid wails and hates Santa because all the things they listed was not delivered and then refusing to play with the other toys.

I'm glad I voted for him. Also proud I've voted in every election for the most progressive available candidate ever since he took office.

He's a tireless advocate for us. I don't mind some of the criticisms. Wages must improve for people to start feeling the effects of a stronger economy.

As for the more histrionic attacks here, it says more about the critic than the President. It's dirt off my shoulder.

From some posters' hyperbole you'd think race relations today are worse than the 50's, that white people don't care, and that we've got hundreds of African Americans being publicly lynched in the streets daily. Never mind that every incident of white on black crime makes major national headlines, or that in the past 6 years we've overwhelmingly nominated an African-American man for president (with much vitriol against his white primary opponent I might add), and then overwhelmingly elected him twice.

Wow, we don't even know you? Sadly we do. Yet you are the one that calls us ignorant and undeserving of respect.

You know you are posting in the BOG. You have been told that several times here, yet you keep doubling down, why is that? Are you so disrespectful of rules that you would come to our group and trample on them and call out members. That is called bulling and I do not like that one damn bit. You want to take us on, go for it. You can find us posting daily there, in GD on GD. We then are fair game.

Until then show some manners. You just do not go into another's home and wipe your dirty boots on their furniture. That is beyond rude.

If you have a problem with the BOG being Reced into GD take it up with Skinner, you know him correct? He runs this whole joint. Ask him how he feels about it~ go for it. Lol~ others have and I know how he answered.

I have heard many times on GD that is a badge of honor to get banned from this group. Many say they will post rude things here so they will get banned. So here is your badge. See you in GD. Trust me, we are a force to be reckoned with. We will never go quietly into the night.

Don't know how many times I've heard my Dad complain his retirement was "going to hell" whenever the stock market goes down. So far, though, he's never ended up out of his house or living less than average middle class lifestyle.

People who don't have that kind of savings wish they did.

I've never heard a real life person complain that Wall Street is stealing from them. They simply want it to be doing well and for themselves to be doing OK or well.

They do and can. You can find about 90 of them in the house, about 10 of them in the Senate, and in myriad governor's mansions and statehouses and city councils and county boards across the country. The question is not whether they can win elections, it is whether the corporate funders of the Democratic party will try to knock them out of presidential primaries by labeling them "extreme" "far out" "not mainstream" etc. etc., like has been done by the MSM to almost every progressive candidate in the presidential primary era.

the msm sets the tone for how president obama is reacting to any particular issue to rile up the democrats.

and the president just steps aside and lets them. then, wham! it is called 'rope a dope' or a very well controlled zen of political strategy. [i.e. the xl pipeline & immigration. and we keep hearing the president is saying this or saying that about the tpp. really? i have yet to hear from his lips state exactly whatever the soup du jour is from msm reports on any given day.]

he is still waiting to hear from us and our legislators ~ because he is listening to ALL of us citizen. when we speak or write or whatever - he is listening and uses this to weigh his final decision. he has yet to really let me down as a voter, a democrat and a woman of color, and an environmentalist.

p.s. and to those who cannot find happiness anywhere - have you written letters to your legislators and the white house to give voice to your concerns other than on here? no matter what msm and gop talking heads want to believe - these communications are critical to our democracy.
