Reggie Love spent five years as a personal assistant to Senator and President Barack Obama, who was not only a boss, but a mentor. In celebration of his new book, Power Forward (Simon & Schuster), Love shared some special photos from his private collection, featuring scenes from the Oval Office to the basketball court.

Reggie Love is a unique witness to history, whose introduction to Washington was working in Junior Senator Barack Obamas mailroom. As body man to Obama during his first presidential campaign, Loves job was to stay one step behind the candidate, but think and act three steps ahead during a typical eighteen-hour workday. As President Obamas personal aide during that momentous first term, Love sat yards from the Oval Office and often spent more time with the President than anyone else. While his experiences were unique, the lessons he learned during his tenure with the President are universal. Persistence. Responsibility. Passion for a cause greater than yourself. In short, maturity.
Love has been singularly lucky in his mentors. At Duke University, where he was a walk-on and a captain of its fabled basketball team, Love learned from Coach Krzyzewski that sports builds characterfrom President Obama, Love learned that how you conduct your life defines your character. - See more at: http://books.simonandschuster.com/Power-Forward/Reggie-Love/9781476763347#sthash.BS6YXew3.dpuf
Wow, read this one more time.
Bravo Reggie.
For the BOG. Our time is short, his term will end far sooner than I wish. He is a thoughtful man, he has a depth and a quite speech. He is a man of integrity that wrestles with his soul to come up with the right answers.
One last time...
BOG, our time is limited here. Our respect of this President is not. He is no lame duck. He has the cards in his hands and a veto pen as well. The new majority is a freaking mess. They have no clue how to govern.
Eyes open people, is't not over.

(15,438 posts)Since this is the Barack Obama Group, not the President Obama Group, we can keep the BOG and post news about his work as a prominent and influential Democrat long after January 2017, and I'm certain we'll have lots to post about.

(10,006 posts)Not only can we look forward to his future activism, I think it won't be long before we will also be looking back fondly at his legacy and the many positive changes he brought into all of our lives while President. He may not have been a prefect (who is?) President but this is a good man and we were lucky to have him for 8 years.

(15,438 posts)He isn't perfect by any means, but as far as flawed human beings go, he comes close. And considering the polarized political environment he's been forced to navigate, he's done a darn good job, too, imo.
Besides being the greatest POTUS, he will be the greatest former POTUS. I expect Jimmy Carter like things and know I will get that!

Exclusive: Obama's post-presidential slogan: 'Eight years is only the beginning'
WASHINGTON Though President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle still have two years left in the White House, their foundation has come up with a bold slogan for their next chapter: Eight years is only the beginning.
When they leave on Jan. 20, 2017, Obama will be only 55 and his wife, who turned 51 on Jan. 17, will have just celebrated her 53rd birthday.
Not that I ever doubted it, but the Chicago-based Barack Obama Foundations revamped website, which went live Friday, makes it clear the Obamas intend to maintain a robust public presence in the decades to come.

(17,656 posts)We haven't had any snow in a month!
We had the warmest average daily temperature for the month of February in 70 years!
Girls are running around wearing halter tops and short shorts . . which is why I haven't been complaining about the unseasonably warm weather this winter.

(87,490 posts)Yup, drove home from work in it. Suppose to get freezing rain after midnight. Sigh~ Enjoy your warm weather, after our deep freeze we are thrilled to be in the 20's by day here.
Oh, we will send you some snow if you wish....here is what one entrepreneur is doing.
Snowing money? Man ships Boston snow from yard
A Massachusetts man is capitalizing on the snow-ravaged Northeast by selling and shipping snow to customers, friends, family and enemies in warmer climates.
And with snowstorms hitting the Northeast weekly, it just keeps snowing money for Kyle Waring, the founder of ShipSnowYo.com.
Waring told Boston.com that he and his wife were shoveling their yard just north of Boston when they came up with the idea to send snow to friends and family.
In case you were planning to send more snow to areas already hit hard, that's not an option. According to the website, they "will not ship snow to any states in the Northeast! We're in the business of expunging snow!"
Waring originally offered 16.9-ounce snow-filled water bottles for $19.99, but found that the snow melted by the time it reached its destination. The solution: six pounds of snow for $89 and a 10-pound option for $119. He told Boston.com he's been selling out of the product.
