Barack Obama

Last night, President Barack Obama gave one of the greatest convention speeches in US political history. Like a seasoned preacher, he knew when to bring the crowd up, when to bring it down, and when to drive it into a frenzy. He laid out the case for Hillary Clinton to succeed him, as one-time adversaries became close friends.
While I have no doubt that Mrs. Clinton will be an excellent president and carve out her own storied legacy, we'll never see the like of Barack Obama again. He is a once in a century figure. Last night reminded us of that.

While I did not agree with him on his "look forward not backward" position. I think he has been the best President of my lifetime, which has roughy been half a century...
I am going miss his leadership very much.
Thank you Mr. President for all you have done in the last 7.5 years!

Unless you're really, really gifted.
Yes... Half a century...
Half a decade sounded better...

(12,904 posts)We will get to see his like for many years to come. He has a great deal more positive impact to make on this country, and I, for one, have exactly zero doubt that is what will happen.
ps...about his speech, I love when he cracks himself up. I kept waiting, and he almost got there a couple times, but alas, no crack up. Great speech, otherwise.

(23,801 posts)he said it with a straight face. I loved the part about his grandparents in Kansas and what people respected. It gave me some insight why he's the way he is.

(23,801 posts)He's worked his tail off the past 7.5 years and has brought about so many positive changes-- how can we ever
thank him?
After the debacle of W, he restored honor to America in a big way. I'll never forget when he gave that speech in Berlin to some 200,000 people-- and he wasn't even president yet!! That was amazing.
