(3,284 posts)Mika was fully behind Clinton and her speech. She said it was amazing, and that Clinton really knocked Donald off his perch, in a way that no Republican has come close to doing. She also tore Paul Ryan down for endorsing Trump. I was watching in shock (but a happy shock!). LOL

God forbid they'd actually give this incredible FP speech the respect its due! That would go against their business plan, wouldn't it?

(3,284 posts)before the pendulum swung the other way again. This is a perfect example of why I'm hesitant to watch the news for very long. Just when you think things are going well, they have to "present the other side" in some ridiculous effort to appear unbiased. Normally that makes sense, but when you're talking about a joke candidate who shouldn't be legitimized like Trump, it's dangerous.

(3,853 posts)two different opinions about an issue. Sometimes there is just "THE TRUTH" and "A LIE". Responsible journalists should not ever legitimize "THE LIE" and then say they are just presenting "both sides".
I've noticed they've gotten a little better than they used to be, but it's still frustrating to see compulsive liars (not just Trump, but his surrogates and spokespeople, too) get airtime with minimal pushback.

(1,881 posts)PATHETIC.If that isn't an indication that the campaign is over then just look at the Bernie supporters/Trump Apologists.
The difference is striking. Clinton labored over an amazing speech that even the media praised, while BS took petty swipes at her. Susan Sarandon isn't helping; she's starting to look completely unhinged, saying that she's SURE Hillary will be indicted.

Cosmopolitan: The 13 Best Lines From Hillary Clinton's Blistering Speech About Donald Trump
snips//
1. "Donald Trump's ideas aren't just different they are dangerously incoherent. They're not even really ideas just a series of bizarre rants, personal feuds, and outright lies."
2. "This is not someone who should ever have the nuclear codes because it's not hard to imagine Donald Trump leading us into a war just because somebody got under his very thin skin."
3. "We cannot put the security of our children and grandchildren in Donald Trump's hands. We cannot let him roll the dice with America."
4. "He says he doesn't have to listen to our generals or our admirals, our ambassadors and other high officials, because he has quote 'a very good brain.''"
5. "He says he has foreign policy experience because he ran the Miss Universe pageant in Russia."
6. "It's no small thing when he calls Mexican immigrants 'rapists and murderers.' We're lucky to have two friendly neighbors on our land borders. Why would he want to make one of them an enemy?"
7. " There's no risk of people losing their lives if you blow up a golf-course deal. But it doesn't work like that in world affairs. Just like being interviewed on the same episode of 60 Minutes as Putin was, is not the same thing as actually dealing with Putin. So the stakes in global statecraft are infinitely higher and more complex than in the world of luxury hotels. We all know the tools Donald Trump brings to the table bragging, mocking, composing nasty tweets I'm willing to bet he's writing a few right now."
8. "And I have to say, I don't understand Donald's bizarre fascination with dictators and strongmen who have no love for America. He praised China for the Tiananmen Square massacre; he said it showed strength. He said, 'You've got to give Kim Jong Un credit' for taking over North Korea something he did by murdering everyone he saw as a threat, including his own uncle, which Donald described gleefully, like he was recapping an action movie. And he said if he were grading Vladimir Putin as a leader, he'd give him an A. Now, I'll leave it to the psychiatrists to explain his affection for tyrants. I just wonder how anyone could be so wrong about who America's real friends are. Because it matters. If you don't know exactly who you're dealing with, men like Putin will eat your lunch."
9. "A Trump presidency would embolden ISIS. We cannot take that risk. This isn't reality television this is actual reality."
11. "What happens to the moral example we set for the world and for our own children if our president engages in bigotry? And by the way, Mr. Trump every time you insult American Muslims or Mexican immigrants, remember that plenty of Muslims and immigrants serve and fight in our armed forces. Donald Trump could learn something from them."
13. "This election is a choice between two very different visions of America. One that's angry, afraid, and based on the idea that America is fundamentally weak and in decline. The other is hopeful, generous, and confident in the knowledge that America is great just like we always have been."

(12,168 posts)...a nasty school yard bully of a child, but he doesn't think things through like a reasoned adult. All of those points Clinton made about Trump are dead on accurate, and everything he says reveals the scary, reactive temperament of a person who fails to reason and would be a hotheaded POTUS--one we must never suffer with.
And to the Republicans--you did this. You allowed horrible contenders to run as though they were serious in the primary. You and your control of the media made sure the primary was ridiculous--that no-one got asked any hard questions because you were afraid the viewers would see for themselves how unqualified each of your candidates was. Of course Trump survived the rest. If your party had not devolved into such a hot mess that hates more reasonable Republicans (there actually are still some stragglers in the shadows), because they aren't conservative (looney) enough, and by using 24/7 television station Fox News to prop up your ugliness as American and some how "principled"--you got exactly what you deserve, but what about America? What about the world?
Thank goodness for Hillary Clinton.

(12,168 posts)...the good kind. Bernie must have recognized she revealed that he is woefully outmatched and responded by slamming her--proving how a) he is not a Democrat, and b) he is now hell bent on helping Trump just to spitefully turn around and claim that if he had been the nominee the Dems wouldn't have failed. He needs to be handed his hat and coat and shown the door. Hopefully he will not be speaking at the convention! It would be just too much

I don't know if Bernie realizes how small he looks publicly disagreeing with her sentiments about Trump. He's positioning himself as threat to democracy in America. He just doesn't get it.
