I lost, or I was wrong, or I made a mistake.

He's got to back slowly into that "I lost" position, and then he has to pivot and support Clinton. If he doesn't do that after he gets roundly and soundly beaten in DC, then his name is mud.

I have to say, I caught a whiff of that on occasion. Unintentional, I'm sure, but people are products of their environments, aren't they?

Devine is probably busy counting his cash--he got RICH off of that contest.

I can't wait to read/see the book/movie on this primary election--ya gotta know that the inner workings of the BS camp were likely rife with competing priorities. I hope they do one, because I think this was the more interesting of the two primary contests.

Look at all this "Not MY Fault"-ing!!!!! And all this isn't coming from CLINTON--it's coming from INSIDE THE (Bernie) HOUSE!!!!!!

“Bernie’s been at the helm of this campaign from the beginning,” said Weaver, “and the overall message of this campaign and the direction of the campaign and the strategy, has been driven by Bernie.”

Subtext: Even if "I" gave different advice....

“They would be very smart to understand that the best way to approach Bernie is not to try to push him around,” Devine said. “It’s much better if they try to cooperate with him and find common ground. They should be mindful of the fact that the people he’s brought into this process are new to it and they will be very suspicious of any effort to push him around.

Subtext: He's a loose cannon--he could 'go off' at any minute!

Aides say Sanders thinks that progressives who picked Clinton are cynical, power-chasing chickens — like Sen. Sherrod Brown, one of his most consistent allies in the Senate before endorsing Clinton and campaigning hard for her ahead of the Ohio primary. Sanders is so bitter about it that he’d be ready to nix Brown as an acceptable VP choice, if Clinton ever asked his advice on who’d be a good progressive champion.

Subtext: He's angry and vengeful.

Every time Sanders got into a knife fight, aides say, they ended up losing. But they could never stop Sanders when he got his back up.

Subtext: He's impetuous, his judgment is lousy, and he doesn't listen.

All of this shade is coming from HIS OWN PEOPLE--not outsiders. I'm amazed they didn't break ranks sooner!

It was the Vermont senator who personally rewrote his campaign manager’s shorter statement after the chaos at the Nevada state party convention and blamed the political establishment for inciting the violence.

He was the one who made the choice to go after Democratic National Committee chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz after his wife read him a transcript of her blasting him on television.

He chose the knife fight over calling Clinton unqualified, which aides blame for pulling the bottom out of any hopes they had of winning in New York and their last real chance of turning a losing primary run around.

And when Jimmy Kimmel’s producers asked Sanders’ campaign for a question to ask Donald Trump, Sanders himself wrote the one challenging the Republican nominee to a debate.

he's as cantankerous as I thought he was....seems bitter about everything. He won't leave the race anytime soon...............

and wonder where his supporters get some of their clues from?

..., Sanders is himself filled with resentment, on edge, feeling like he gets no respect -- all while holding on in his head to the enticing but remote chance that Clinton may be indicted before the convention.

I think they believe Sanders will try to re-write history when he (or Jane, so they can keep the profits) writes a big book about the campaign.

This looks like a coordinated bit of truth-telling--by his OWN staff.

That's never good. For the candidate, anyway. When loyalty is the first casualty, it's all over but the heart-wrenching tears.

is that McCain knew his campaign was being devisive, mostly with his Palin pick being the catalyst of all the nastiness and he was ready to put that to bed for the good of the nation.

Sanders, after his extortion speech last night, only cares about himself and his movement. Last night, IMO, was him overplaying his hand. Where he could have been gracious and supportive as most adults are in the face of loss, he double-downed on bitterness and I don't think it'll play out for him the way he thinks it will. Last night he damaged his relationship with the Dem Party leaders, particularly the head of the party, Hillary Clinton. If he thinks he can hold Clinton over a barrel, he hasn't been paying much attention to her over the years.

At this point, all of this is just political theater on Sanders part. In the end, he's only harming his "movement" by being obstinate and in denial about the fact that it's over.

When someone insists on flaming out, sometimes you just have to let them.

Many here suspected that he would not be tactful. He knows there is ZERO chance of winning so what does he do? Let's the crowd boo Clinton, which he has allowed through his entire campaign. Disgusting. He is certainly making no friends in the Democratic party. Bernie is the only one who can pass his purity test...a party of one.

From the politico article:

Word got back to Reid’s team that Weaver had nixed the idea, ruling out backing anyone who hadn’t endorsed Sanders. Weaver says it’s because the Senate hopefuls had to get in line for Sanders’ support behind top backers like Gabbard and Rep. Raúl Grijalva (D-Ariz.)—though neither has a competitive race this year

This was a big failure on his campaign's part. Refusing to get behind dems running for office, because they did not meet his purity test. Whereas Clinton built up massive support and a coalition of supporters. Ideological purity was not a prerequisite for help. She knows that to get things passed in Washington you need a majority of votes, not ideological purity.

Yes, that entire article is well worth the read. I am amazed that many here were close in their assessment of him and the campaign he ran. Two factions in his campaign. One that knows math and one that ignored the math. Bernie aligned himself with the math deniers.

The party and Clinton have to bow to him, for his support. I doubt he will take a backseat to someone who is not as pure as him.

He will continue to beat his dead horse until there is nothing left but it's bones. Frankly I don't expect Sanders to concede to Sec. Clinton - he will simply turn tail and continue to brood until the snow starts falling in Vermont.

He will never support Hillary. You will never hear a full throated endorsement. You will never see him campaigning for Sec. Clinton. I think he has decided his "movement" is bigger than - more important than electing a Democrat. In fact - more important than electing any Democrat.

To hell with him and his delusions of grandeur.

It lets those of us who support Clinton know what the challenges will be in getting Sanders to adjust his world view. It suggests that he might not "pivot" as easily as most do.

And it is coming from his own people--this isn't outsiders trying to be "mean to Bernie" or anything like that.

It sounds, to me, like even his closest staffers are starting to distance themselves from his histrionics. They don't want to be blamed if he decides to get really difficult.
