Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has garnered at least 65,527,625 votes in the 2016 presidential election, the most any presidential candidate has ever received and over 2.6 million more than the president-elect, who has received at least 62,851,436 votes, according to figures released Wednesday by The Cook Report, a nonpartisan election analysis organization. Clintons widening popular vote gap over Trump is already greater than the winning margin posted by 10 previous United States presidents who actually assumed the office, including John F. Kennedy in 1960, Richard M. Nixon in 1968, and George W. Bush in 2000.

(67,782 posts)....the votes are still being counted and she's trailing his 2012 total by a mere 400,000 at this time.
Still and all, her total is higher than any other Presidential candidate, including her opponents this year, in the history of the country except for Obama's in 2008 and possibly his numbers in 2012.
Considering the widespread resistance to her candidacy by both republicans AND Democrats, for many simply because she is a woman, that vote count is highly impressive.
