But that's COOL! It's a testament about the beauty of older women! They, too, are international goddesses. Really liked that her photo clearly wasn't airbrushed. Just plain un-retouched Hillary. Awfully nice for those of us over 60. Beauty doesn't end with one's 20s.

As far as Michelle Obama and Oprah Winfrey - they've both been drop-dead gorgeous for a LONG time.

so it's very good to see someone our age thought of as beautiful. The opposite has been the case for far too long. I think Gloria Steinem and Jane Goodall are beautiful too.

MAN - when I was an entertainment reporter, one of the annual events I covered was the AFI (American Film Institute) Lifetime Achievement Award ceremony. Lifetime achievement means the honoree is - well - older. This is not the kind of event where the 20-somethings congregate. It always brought out what was referred to as "Old Hollywood."

So we'd all be clustered outside, behind the red ropes at the entrance, so we'd all get the arrivals. And often one or more of them would stop for a moment to say a few words about this wonderful night and the wonderful person who was being honored and the tradition snd history and other such niceties. So we all got soundbites to use. But we also got front-row views of this "Pageant of The Elders" - and close-up looks at the parade of facelifts, neck lifts, boob jobs, hair transplants, toupees, wigs, eye jobs, you name it - nips 'n' tucks of EVERY imaginable kind. And later on, of course, injectables and fillers too. HORRENDOUS. I realize it's a youth market in Hollywood, as everywhere else. But SHEESH - sometimes aging gracefully is a good thing.

Walter Matthau's wife, Carol, had had so much face-work done that she really didn't have a "face" anymore, after awhile. She had a table with eyes and mouth painted on. Her face on either side was FLAT. Her features GONE. The skin stretched so tight, so many times before, that it had NO elasticity, NO suppleness, NO texture, NOTHING. You could see the discolorations and capillaries that had been so stretched to such an extreme, over many "procedures", how it was mottled and icky-looking and no applications of foundation or makeup or even Spackle would have been able to help conceal it. That poor woman was a gargoyle. A frozen gargoyle at that, because all those surgeries steadily removed her face's ability to move, to show expression, even to smile naturally. If you Google her you'll find photos of her as a younger woman, when she was actually quite lovely. Sadly, she was ruined. Absolutely ruined! NOBODY deserves that.

The first time I saw that, I resolved right then and there that I'm gonna let Nature be my "plastic surgeon." I do NOT want to mess with it. Because all that effort, agony, and expense will only gain you a couple of years, tops, before you have to go in and get "tweaked" again. And after repeated rounds of that, pretty soon YOU wind up looking like Carol Matthau. Just NOT worth it.

While sometimes I wish that gravity had less force on many parts of my body, I would never have it surgically altered simply for looks. Shaming older women plays into the hands of those who would like to make a fortune by propping up our belief that we must nip and tuck to continue to be attractive.

I heard years ago that Sally Field had vowed to age naturally. I hope she sticks to it because she's another one that I think is beautiful just the way she is.

I have a friend who's just a few years older than I am. Kinda between my age (63) and Hillary's (I think she's 69). My friend's face has LOTS of laugh lines. Which tells the world she's spent a LIFETIME smiling and laughing. She literally has a "happy face." Seems to me that's not such a terribly bad thing, 'eh?

There's that old saying - you get the face you deserve. My friend is the lucky one!

I think she may be the oldest woman on the list. I think Oprah Winfrey is a little younger. Even so, it's VERY gratifying to see our age group represented. And by ONE HELLUVA WOMAN!!! If that's all I get for representation, I am totally FINE with it, and mighty proud of it!

I hadn't seen it either, until just lately.

I really love how Hillary, and Oprah too, have chosen NOT to have any "work" done. Hey, if the 20-times-over Most Admired Woman in the World and the most illustrious television mogul ever can go into old age naturally, I see no reason why the rest of us can't do it, too!

Besides, having "work" done costs a lot of money! And it's not over even when the surgery's over. You have to keep going back and retouching as the years go by and gravity keeps overriding anything your surgeon tried to do. And that costs more money. And hey, if I'm gonna splurge, I'm gonna do it in other ways - ways that keep. Besides, in that regard, I'm pretty much a cheapskate. THIS is what I've got, for better or worse. And THIS is what I'll die with.

Reminds me of an early book written by Barbara Walters: "How To Talk To Practically Anybody About Practically Anything." (I love her, too!) She passed along some very practical advice that she got from one of her girlfriends - to apply to any new situation or, in her case, a new interview subject or a meeting with some new VIP: Look yourself in the mirror when you're getting yourself ready, and tell yourself "I am the way I am. I look the way I look. I am my age."

Can't remember how many times I kept that in the back of my mind - on too many occasions! It always helped. I'm certainly no Beyonce or Blake Lively. Never was, when I was their age. And I won't ever be! I'm content with what and who I am. There's kinda no way around it, anyway, so screw it! What's the point of not being so?

Yeah. She definitely IS a beautiful woman. And I see her face in this article's photo was deliberately not retouched. You can see the smile lines and wrinkles. Like my friend whose face is now almost pleated with smile lines. Why? Because she's spent so much of her life smiling and laughing and happy and spreading and sharing joy. And that's a bad thing - HOW?

Like fistfuls of pearls or diamonds. They, too, come in many colors.
