I always appreciate you! As a retired bilingual and migrant teacher, I also have been active in human rights in Guatemala.

They've been able to buy and control the politicians and steal the countries blind, helping themselves to all the natural resources, running sweatshops and plantations at slave wages, or worse, with no requirements other than to help themselves as fast as they can.

That never has made it into US corporate media, along with so much other atrocity within the Hemisphere.

Guatemala's people have been beaten down so hard, so long. Their history after their invasion is a nightmare.

It's easy to see how you could feel such concern for the actual citizens of countries controlled by powers outside their own borders. I hope daily freedom will finally come for them all, not just the corrupt oligarchs.
