Italian Anti-Mafia Directorate in Costa Rica for cooperation

ROMA, 23 September 2024, 15:35

Meetings with police, magistrates and customs authorities

The Italian Anti-Mafia Investigative Direction concluded its visit to Costa Rica.

The Director General of the Dia, Michele Carbone, accompanied by the Italian Ambassador in San Josè, Alberto Colella, was received by the Deputy Minister for Bilateral Affairs and International Cooperation, Lydia Peralta Cordero, with whom he analysed the key elements of cooperation in security and police investigation that can continue to be promoted by the teams of both countries from Rome and San José.

During the visit to Costa Rica, the Dia delegation had meetings with several national police forces, the judiciary, and customs and port authorities, and shared good practices in the fight against transnational organised crime.

The aim of the visit was to strengthen the joint work in this area carried out by both countries and to foster good bilateral relations.

The common endeavour, it was emphasised, is to use advanced investigative techniques and work together to counter international criminal systems.
