TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - Sonora, Mexico authorities are investigating the “direct attack” of a 30-year-old Tucson man after he was killed on the Caborca-Altar highway, according to the Sonora Attorney General’s Office.

Family has identified the victim as Nicholas Douglas Quets.

Authorities say on Friday October 18th, a vehicle with armed people drove up alongside Quets and began shooting. Paramedics arrived at the scene to provide medical care, but Quets had already died.

The Attorney General’s office says, “After learning of the events, the security forces of the three levels of government implemented an operation to locate and arrest those responsible for this event. The Attorney General’s Office of the State of Sonora (FGJES) continues with the investigations to clarify the facts and bring those responsible to justice.”

An American man who was traveling with his family was shot and killed by armed men who intercepted the vehicle in which they were traveling in the municipality of Altar , Sonora .

The violent incident occurred on Friday night, and the victim was identified as Nicholas Douglass Quets Garcia , 31, a resident of Tucson, Arizona .
