Biden Acts With 2016 in Mind

Suddenly, Vice President Joe Biden seems to be everywhere. He is doing his job as President Barack Obama's advocate and surrogate, of course, but his busy and very public schedule suggests that he also wants to show that he would have a lot to offer as a presidential candidate in 2016. He says he is actively considering a campaign for the Democratic nomination.

It has been vintage Biden – aggressive, emotional and at times fiery – as illustrated by his remarks about the need for colleges to work harder to fight sexual assault. "Colleges and universities can no longer turn a blind eye or pretend rape and sexual assault doesn't occur on their campuses," Biden said Tuesday. "We need to provide survivors with more support and we need to bring perpetrators to more justice and we need colleges and universities to step up."

....

Biden started this week by attacking the House Republican budget plan in an effort to frame the debate leading up to the midterm congressional elections in November. "This is not your father's Republican Party," Biden said at George Washington University Monday.

"What they clearly value, this new Republican Party, is more tax cuts for the wealthy at the expense of the middle class … because they genuinely believe in their hearts that that's the way in which you build a 21st century economy."

Biden is to talk about foreign policy in Washington today at an Atlantic Council's tribute to NATO and the European Union.

There are a lot of senators and representatives that age and older...Sen. Byrd was well over that and sharp as a tack . .

I like both these guys, but Dems may have to wait 7 to 8 years to replace Scalia. Could Sanders/Biden keep up the pace well into their 80s?

There are people who have always hated Obama, but the current wave of Democratic criticism is just as harmful to Biden's chances as it is to Obama's legacy.

Let's hope that Rachel's program last night fighting back the Obama criticism inspires other notables to join in the fray.....

If Beau were still alive, but gravely ill, I can see Joe not running so that he could be with Beau as much as possible.

12. Kerry & Biden

A ridiculous thing entered my mind when heard that Kerry had broken a femur bone.

I heard he would not have surgery, he would have pressure on the bone till it healed which will take a long time, and require physical therapy.

He has only a month left to seal the deal with Iran.

But Biden could now use a change of scenery, and he's an ace with foreign dignitaries. I wonder if President Obama could switch them temporarily. Joe and Jill could get away for a while, and the Kerrys could live in their own DC home, if they have one.

I think that Joe is so tuned to what Kerry is doing, he could cut in like in a dance and never miss a beat...

Kerry reads Obama's mind and would make a great VP for a few months. I think we have 17 months till next election, and 3 months after that in office.

A busy mind is a healing mind, and Joe could use the activity, and Kerry could use less footwork and keep that intelligent brain working. Sounds so simple, doesn't it?
