switching to. What it is, I do not know. However, if you get the older styles and they need to be fixed or re-charged, you wont be able to get the old juice for it. Not sure of the particulars, but, if the AC units youre looking at are incredibly cheap there may be a reason, this MAY be why. Stay frosty

My AC guy told me that a bottle that used to cost $40 now is over $400. Sometime in the next few years I will be replacing my system - it has leaked for years and it's now getting too expensive to keep refilling it.

Like somehow that AC stuff was made of a limited amount of fairy dust and the dust ran dry. No. They want to REsell everyone a AC unit now that the heat is unbearable. Capitalism unbridled, and unregulated. Gd it.

New, still in their boxes. 50$ each.

Chances are they won't be there but it couldn't hurt to check.

we are summer almost through September ...

but I've found units (window) on sale by the end of Aug/Sept

look fir the energy star ones that cycle off completely and back on as needed

my energy bill has actually gone down the last 2 months, and I let my unit run 24/7 on 76 degrees, cycling on/off as it determines,.. I'm in central NC with temps in 90 upper 80's most days ...

... like before anybody would actually need one. The price was pretty good, I think I got a small one for about $100. That was maybe 8 or 9 years ago, and it still runs good. I don't use it much though.

If you're going to cool only one room, you can get away a small unit of about 5,000 BTU. The bigger ones are heavier, they don't necessarily fit in older-type windows, and draw a lot more power. Those were all concerns for me.
