Also, was this a national company? Seems as though their likely higher costs come with some leverage against their national reputation....?

I've had regional moves with local companies that were problematic, but they were easier to compel to make things right. I'm sorry for your experience.

This was local moving company that contracted independent drivers for long distance moves. We opted for their basic insurance coverage at no extra cost (60¢ per lb). We filed a damage claim in late January, but haven't gotten any response despite repeated phone calls for same.
