I just tried logging into the "big three" to get my "free" credit report, but all three wanted a subscription. I thought we could get up to three free ones a year. Any idea how to do this?

(327 posts)This is always frustrating - you are allowed by law to receive one free credit report from EACH of the three reporting agencies each year.

This is not a private, for-profit website like Credit Karma, and although they may provide a useful service, someone is paying them, if not you.
We rotate between the three agencies each four months, so we always have an up-to-date credit report every 120 days or so. Again, its not only free, this is the result of consumer protection legislation that may have even been bi-partisan back when there were a handful of human Republicans.
