When LSU football loses, especially when it loses games it shouldn’t, judges across the state dish out harsher sentences to juvenile offenders, most notably black boys and girls.
In a January study by LSU researchers Ozkan Eren and Naci Mocan, the pair revealed data on their university’s football team — specifically the differences between when LSU football wins or loses — over a span from 1996 to 2012.

Mocan — the LSU Chair in Economics, who researches the economics of crime, health and labor — said that upon presenting his findings to folk in Baton Rouge, none were surprised. Likely because football dominates the South and everything else is fighting to be a distant second, even a profession which is supposed to be fair and just by law.
“For people that are not familiar with college football and the intensity of it, it may come as a surprise. It all comes down to the deep connection of the state and the institution and the football team,” Mocan told SB Nation. “Here, they are indoctrinated in this culture of football.”

I think the woman was referring to earlier comments by Colin Cowherd, not Finebaum. Cowherd seems to enjoy "trolling" fans of some teams, especially if they react strongly to it.
I'm a college football fan too, but I'm surprised by people who take it too seriously.
Ohio State seems to have numerous haters among Penn State fans in particular. Their band was pelted by balloons filled with urine (supposedly) during a game at Beaver Stadium a few years ago, and the band stopped attending games there for awhile afterwards.
Then there's this kind of abuse caught on video:
I like perpetuating the long rivalry with Michigan, but I tend to have more respect for their fans in general.
Some people act crazy about their "groups."
I listened to Finebaum's radio show last year when an Ohio State fan (from Brooklyn, NY of all places) was "talking smack" about the SEC. The caller sounded like a black man, but I can't know for sure. Some Alabama fan later called to complain about the caller from Brooklyn, saying it was time for another Civil War with the North!
Finebaum is often an instigator, but at least he told that particular caller to calm down and not blow things out of proportion.
Side note: I drove to New Orleans (sleeping in my car at a state park because hotels were so expensive) to see Ohio State play Alabama in the 2015 Sugar Bowl, and I liked all of the Alabama fans that I met in the French Quarter and in the stadium. They seemed a bit overconfident and they were in shocked silence after the game ended, but they seemed classy and respectful overall. I was almost surprised after hearing some of the callers on Finebaum's radio show.
