I had a crush in high school. She made my heart jump into my throat every time I saw her.

I saw her once in college (I didn't know we went to the same one). My heart jumped into my throat.

We became "friends"on facebook. My heart jumped into my throat.

I flew across the country to see her a little over a year ago. My heart jumped into my throat.

I saw her last weekend. My heart jumped into my throat.

This leads me to ask two questions:

If a crush lasts over 32 years is it still a crush?
Should I seek medical treatment for a jumping heart?

After 32 years? Definitely more than a crush... are there any obstacles to you two pursuing further? opiate69 Jun 2012 #1

Sometimes it turns out we were uncannily right about certain things, when we were younger.

If you flew across the country to see her, I assume there's a pretty solid mutual friendship there, no?

I thought you were at least aquainted.

I can't really imagine starting a friendship with one of the people I went to school with and never talked to.

even a couple of times on the phone. I was never really on her radar.

I was some Freshman that didn't really run in her circles.

I'm pretty noticed now. I just have to overcome the distance.

10. About a year ago, I "remet" an old girlfriend...

In high school, we dated, went steady, made plans for the future. Then life came along and we separated, just went our own ways: no big screaming fight or break-up or anything.

Fast forward 42 years...

I called a nearby animal rescue group to foster a Siberian puppy they had, and needed to foster somewhere (I have 4 Sibes). In talking about helping at the rescue, lo and behold, I find out its the old girlfriend.

She's with her 2nd husband, I'm with my 3rd wife, we each have grandkids, and we each have 4 dogs at home!! We finally "remet" about a year ago, and it has developed into a lovely friendship. We have found out that each of us is happy and healthy.

It really is great to have found her again. We can flirt with each other, we can help each other, and we kid around so easily. All 4 of us are friends, and we all get together, both at the dog park and socially.

If you can make it work out, and the feelings are mutual, I would say go for it. Life really IS too short, and love really CAN last forever.

We've texted and she sent me a picture (get your mind out of the gutter--it's G rated.)

The flowers are getting sent this week, though. The picture is clearly a flirt, so I figure I'll ramp it up a little. (She received a few bourbon induced notes on facebook a couple of years ago from me, so playing it cool is sort of off the table...)

I would have sent it already but I am having issues with the note. Over-thinking is character trait of mine. I think I may just go with a simple:

Thinking of you

(Kind of a lot)
