The job market's performance in the wake of omicron will be on the agenda this week, with a slew of employment data being released.
This week investors will get a sense of how the job market is faring amid rising COVID-19 outbreaks with the JOLTS for December, ADPs private jobs report for January, weekly initial and continuing unemployment claims, and nonfarm payrolls for January being released. The Chicago Business Barometer for January is also scheduled to be released.
Investors will get a lot of insight into omicrons impact on employment this week with a slate of key economic data reports scheduled for release.
Heading into the first month of the year, cracks in the improving jobs market started to appear as omicron led to more shutdowns and an increase in hospitalizations. The impact COVID-19 is having on employment will be clearer with the release of the JOLTS report for December, ADPs private jobs report for January, initial and continuing weekly unemployment claims, and nonfarm payrolls for January.
Beyond the jobs market, the Chicago Business Barometer, which tracks the local economy, will be released this week.
