The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) said it was investigating a technical issue on Monday morning that caused roughly a dozen stocks, including Chipotle and GameStop, to experience volatility halts, according to Bloomberg. Berkshire Hathaway and the Bank of Montreal appeared to briefly trade at a 99% discount to their opening prices on Monday, seemingly related to the glitch.
A technical issue with industry-wide price bands published by the CTA SIP triggered halts in a number of stocks listed on the NYSE Group exchanges this morning, said the stock exchange on its status page at 11:08 am in New York. Impacted stocks have since reopened (or are in the process of reopening) and the price bands issue has been resolved.

(46,561 posts)I was watching XOM which was hanging for about an hour. It wouldn't move for 10, 15 minutes at a time. The charts were 10 minutes late. Meanwhile associated option continued to fluctuate with more than usual volatility. It was like they were trying to clear the options trades so everyone got liquidity. And there was no information forthcoming as to what was happening.

(4,622 posts)I paid my cell bill on May 30 on their app on my iPhone and received an email confirmation from my carrier - checking w/my bank later that day, I see withdrawal of funds for that transaction 3 times. Being a senior, I guess I do run it a bit close but that "glitch" wiped all the money in checking and show a zero balance. Now it shows a negative balance. I called bank...I had to ask for OD protection going forward but would seriously reduce my monies in my savings account and we are currently unemployed. Being a holiday weekend, last Monday was a bank holiday. I went to the bank the next day and was told to wait until the "pendings" were processed. Well, there was some deposits identified as pending deposits as "temporary credits" to provide OD protection to small bills I do recognize. My cell carrier said records show I paid the bill once and pointed to the bank; the bank pointed to their unerring processes. Meanwhile, I won't get my SS until mid June and must pay rent, utilities before both our next checks arrive. LOL, thank goodness for plastic?
Makes me want to pull it all and go elsewhere; guess the feeling is mutual for both the carrer paid and my bank!!!
Meanwhile, DH had applied same day for unemployment on May 17 - I asked him about confirmation because there had been no confirmation of having made the application to open a new claim. He called and the queue was long and expected to fill the open hours. He was told by a human to use a link to re-apply on-line all over again or visit and use their kiosks. On trying to do so at home, he encountered an error in his "status"of applying (open) a claim on his account. He's been using an on-line chat to determine why the form won't let him apply. Not hopeful this will work, either...I here sitting next to him as this time it's a "server error - try again in 30 seconds" in one of the fields). I just quit! Can't wait for the final SUBMIT button!
Guess that's one way to keep initial claims low! Yay, Geithner and commissioners! Yay, Dewine! Yay Biden! Now I guess it's another week plus waiting week from today (if it does eventually work)...and I have absolutely no skin in the NYS market games Just like to stay aware...
