USW, ExxonMobil meet for first time since 'No' vote

ExxonMobil and the United Steelworkers Union in Beaumont met at the negotiation table again on Tuesday, but there are signs that attentions are starting to drift to the election that will determine the future of the union representation.

The meeting ended without an agreement — or apparently much discussion in general, according to both sides — but there was plan to meet again on Wednesday.

It was the first time both parties met since union members voted down the company’s first and only amended offer last week.

The union and company released statements following the meeting that painted a picture of rising tensions from the “no” vote by union members and the coming decertification election in November.
