Charges Filed Against the Passenger Involved in Last Weeks Physical Assault Aboard American Airlines Flight 976

(Euless, TX) - Today, the Association of Professional Flight Attendants made the following statement regarding the charges filed against the passenger involved in last weeks physical assault aboard American Airlines flight 976:
Today, federal criminal charges for interference with a flight crew and assault within the special aircraft jurisdiction of the United States were filed against the passenger involved in last weeks physical assault aboard American Airlines Flight 976. The passenger was scheduled to appear in the United States District Court for the Central District of California, and APFA is relieved that charges have been filed and the process is moving forward. Anyone who physically assaults a Flight Attendant or Customer Service Ground Agent should be held accountable for their actions. APFA will continue to collaborate with other Flight Attendant and Customer Service Agent Unions, the Department of Transportation, the Federal Aviation Administration, and Congress to ensure these offenders are prosecuted to the full extent of the law with appropriate fines, criminal penalties and applicable flying bans.
