100,000+ Flight Attendants Unite in Day of Action to Demand Better Pay, Working Conditions
From email.
Airline CEOs have awarded themselves with bonuses and incentives. 100,000 Flight Attendants are in contract negotiations, and we expect and demand our fair share.
EULESS, Texas (February 9, 2024) Flight Attendants across the industry are fighting to raise the value of the profession of frontline workers in aviation. On Tuesday, February 13, a landmark collective representing the largest number of Flight Attendants in the history of aviation will unite to demand better pay and working conditions for Flight Attendants everywhere with informational pickets in more than 30 cities in the U.S., the U.K., and Guam.
WHAT:
Worldwide Flight Attendant Day of Action, the largest collective action in the history of the profession.
WHEN:
Tuesday, February 13, 2024, in major cities across the U.S., the U.K., and Guam throughout the day (list of locations and times below).
WHO:
Flight Attendants in unions representing more than 100,000 U.S. workers and their friends and families will conduct informational pickets in major cities across the U.S. These Flight Attendants wear different uniforms but are united in their fight against the corporate greed shown by todays carriers. More than two-thirds of U.S. Flight Attendants are currently in contract negotiations with their employers, including red-hot contract fights with American Airlines, Alaska Airlines, Air Wisconsin, United Airlines, Omni Air International, Southwest Airlines, Frontier Airlines, and more.
WHY:
This is a fight for Flight Attendants and a war on corporate greed.
We fight for our role to be respected; we fight for our value as humans to be restored; and we fight for the job dedicated to the safety and comfort of the flying public. Flight Attendants save lives!
Flight Attendants are an important part of the labor movement. Across the country and the world, we are organized labor with a real impact on the lives of working families today. We need respect from our employers in the form of jobs that pay living wages for our time on the job, with benefits any American would want for themselves and their families; work rules that show we are just as valued as other aviation workers; and better control of our schedules to allow us to live fully human lives.
The devaluing of our jobs must stop. We are frontline workers, not a line item on a balance sheet. Our profession is dedicated to the safety and comfort of passengers -- an important role as first responders in the air.
Together, we will elevate the profession of Flight Attendants everywhere.
