Teamsters VP 'Pretty Certain' Biden Will Get Union's Endorsement After Meeting
John Palmer, Vice President At-Large for the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, told CNN host Erin Burnett that he is pretty certain his union will endorse President Joe Biden for re-election during an interview Tuesday evening. Palmer spoke with Burnett after a meeting with President Biden earlier in the day.
The Teamsters union has now met with both major parties presidential candidates, and Palmer did not shy away from telling Burnett his impressions of two men at the top of the ticket, and those of his fellow members in the union.
The Teamsters VP lauded President Biden for his historic accomplishments for labor. Joe Biden was key and saving the pensions, not just for our union, but many other unions
He has been very, very positive and proactive in reforming the labor board, the Department of Labor, OSHA, all these different agencies that really, really affect the livelihoods and well-being of our members and those folks who arent members, he said.
While the Teamsters union typically endorses candidates much closer to the election, Palmer told Burnett that he is pushing for an earlier endorsement this time around. Between Biden and Trump, Palmer noted it wasnt exactly a difficult decision: Let's be honest: there's no choice here, there never was a choice.
