Labor Day and the Most Pro-Worker Administration in History

Ahead of Labor Day, we wanted to share some points on the President and Vice President’s strong labor record. The President released a Proclamation on Labor Day earlier today, talking points are below, and a one-pager on our Administration’s actions is attached.

Talking Points: Labor Day and the Most Pro-Worker Administration in History

This Labor Day, we celebrate the workers and unions who built America.
As President Biden says, Wall Street didn’t build America — the middle class built America, and unions built the middle class.
The Biden-Harris Administration is the most pro-worker and pro-union in history:
Launched the first-ever White House Task Force on Worker Organizing and Empowerment, chaired by Vice President Harris.
Signed the Butch Lewis Act to save pensions of millions of union workers.
Implemented a new rule to require Project Labor Agreements on nearly all major federal construction projects over $35 million so that these projects are completed efficiently and on time.
Restoring and extending overtime pay to millions of workers.
And many other actions to empower workers and strengthen unions (longer list attached).
With nearly 16 million jobs created and wages up $1,400 since the pandemic, this Administration is delivering for workers, but we have more to do.

Congressional Republicans are siding with big corporations and billionaires:
Blocking the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act to make it easier to form a union and collectively bargain.
Blocking a minimum wage increase to raise wages for millions of Americans.
Trying to roll back overtime protections for millions.
Cutting taxes for billionaires and big corporations while raising taxes for middle class families by nearly $4,000.
Cutting Social Security and Medicare—which Americans earn with every paycheck.
