(WASHINGTON) – The Teamsters Union is proud to strongly support the nomination of former Congresswoman Lori Chavez-DeRemer to be the next U.S. Secretary of Labor.

“As the daughter of a Teamster, Lori Chavez-DeRemer knows the importance of carrying a union card and what it means to grow up in a middle-class household,” said Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien. “Working people need someone with her experience leading the agency that is tasked with protecting workers, creating good union jobs, and rebuilding our nation’s middle class. The Teamsters are grateful to President Trump for putting American workers first by nominating Rep. Chavez-DeRemer to this important role.”

During her time in Congress, Rep. Chavez-DeRemer stood up for UPS workers’ right to strike, worked to protect the right to organize, and fought to keep American jobs from being shipped overseas.

“In the coming weeks, the Senate will have the opportunity to put a champion for working people at the head of the Department of Labor,” said Teamsters General Secretary-Treasurer Fred Zuckerman. “Rep. Chavez-DeRemer is an excellent choice for Secretary of Labor and should be confirmed swiftly and with strong bipartisan support.”

Are they expecting fair treatment from the administration now? Lot of financial gain for union leaders I imagine, but the rank anc file will get screwed just like other union workers.

International Union Cites Strong Political Divides, Few Commitments from Candidates

Press Contact: Kara Deniz Phone: (202) 497-6610 Email: kdeniz@teamster.org

(WASHINGTON) — The General Executive Board of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters on Wednesday elected not to endorse any candidate for U.S. President.

Edit to add: Many TEAMSTER locals did endorse Harris. Labor in general didn't go for Harris in a big way. I just don't understand it.

U.S. presidential election exit polls: share of votes by union membership 2024
Published by Statista Research Department, Nov 12, 2024

According to exit polling in ten key states of the 2024 presidential election in the United States, roughly 45 percent of voters with someone in their household belonging to a labor union voted for Donald Trump. In comparison, 53 percent reported voting for Kamala Harris.

though I saw polling that showed majority of members probably voted for Trump. O'Brien appearing at GOP convention was seen by many as tacit support, even if he didn't mean it that way.

But you are right about the endorsement, I was incorrect. Again, Labor is going to take it in the neck, and any all labor union members who voted Republican at any level made a grave mistake.

Thanks
